I'm On the Banner - AGAIN!

Firstly, apologies to all those who have seen this quilt before!

And secondly, welcome to any new visitors...it's a pleasure to have you to my

little piece of Blogland!

But I am excited, because this quilt is on Sew I Quilt @ Stash Manicure banner!

And this is a second time my quilt has been chosen!

I am blessed!

This is a long time favourite of mine,

possibly because it was my Mum's favourite

too!

I made this quilt back in 2004...

And it was hand pieced and hand quilted!

With a little view of the Melbourne skyline in the background!

I believe the pattern is still available here

There are many wonderful memories in this quilt!

It would be what I'd grab if the house was burning down!

What would you grab?

Check out the other beautiful mauve quilts on the "Sew I Quilt" banner!

Tuesday Treasure- Glassware

It is no secret that I love vintage!

And vintage glass is right up there!

Here are two of my favourite pieces

This perfume atomiser I purchased from an antique store more than 30 years

ago!

I love the pretty ruby glass!

And this little penguin grew up in my family home!

He's such a cute little fellow....

All 1 and 1/2 inches of him!

I'm linking up with Melody's Tuesday Treasures!

Happy days!

(please pop back tomorrow..I have a secret I'm dying to share!)

A Vacation from Blogland!

Warning! This is a picture-less post....

I am feeling a bit ambivalent about my upcoming holiday!

I have been working my nose to the grindstone to get to the finish line...

And its almost time to call the cab!

But boy!

Am I going to miss all my blogging friends!

I am certainly going to try to keep blogging....

It might just be more about 'play' than 'patchwork'!

Is that okay?

Would you rather see photos of..

San Sebastian or stitching?

Liberty of London or Suz at Spotlight?

Lavender in Provence or rain in Melbourne?

Okay, I'll see what I can manage!

Catch ya soon!

Little by Little...

I have made some inroads into my 'to-do' list!

I spent some time this weekend FMQ this quilt....

I didn't make this quilt top...

I posted about it back here.

I won it as part of a giveaway back in January..

And it is now almost complete!

Just the binding to do!

And I have also been working on my Embroider-bee block...

I'm feeling I may even be up-to-date soon!

Although I do think those French Knots on the right will need to be re-done!

Happy sewing!

Looking for TIME!

(Unfortunately no sewing to share again....)

But I have 'acquired' some pretty new things...

I have friend I made from a Flick'r swap...

She emailed recently, desperate to get a copy of a particular Australian

patchwork magazine...

And of course I was happy to oblige.

And in return Colette sent these to me....

"Stitch" magazine is amazing!

Not just quilts, patchwork and applique...

But clothes too!

And "Quiltmaker" magazine is also a new one to me!

I love this paper pieced pooch!

And my week finished off nicely with this...

A trip to "Spotlight" for batting

Was not complete with some the new Denyse Schmidt line "Country Fair"

I was drawn to the blue and chartreuse colour palette,

A little out of the ordinary for me this time!

But I love this and already have a quilt planned!

Now to just find the TIME!

Happy days!

Organising!

My regular 8 - 4 full time (full paying job!)

seems to be taking over at the moment.

So all I've done is a little bit of tidying and sorting.....

And added a "To-Do" list to my side bar...

TBMQ = To be machine quilted
My pile of quilts ready, almost, to machine quilt!
TBHQ = To be hand quilted

TBJ = To be joined

TBM = To be made

And while there's not much sewing being done,

There's lots of inspiration....

In this fabulous new (to me!) book!

And THIS is on top of my list!

I love the look of this organiser-

(I do, indeed, like to be organised!)

And what about the red and aqua?

And what's not to like about this.....

A fabulous striped tote, a French baguette, cute red shoes and a bike!

Makes me happy just looking at this!

Happy days!

Make it A Rainbow!

I am participating in my second Embroider-Bee Swap over on Flick'r.

So the weekend started with some of these....

Cutting 2 and 1/2 inch squares from my scrap bag!

(Members of my Bee asked for a rainbow of colours)

And after a pleasant Saturday of sewing...

I have these....

Some are embroidered....

One is a WIP and

One is .....

Well, you could say, "I don't know what to do on that one!"

But at least I feel I've achieved something!

Stash Project Complete!

I decided late last year to try to use up some of my stash!

I chose all my reds, pinks, oranges, greens and some black and white for

contrast!

Cut out lots of strips in a variety of widths...

And this is what I made...

So, this week, after an afternoon of FMQ....

I bound it....

and I'm happy to say...

I have a stash project complete!

I haven't quite decided where this is going yet?

To a happy home I hope!

But before it goes, it needs a name too...

It reminds me of watermelon and oranges!

Suggestions gratefully received!

I'm linking up to Clover and Violet's Stash Project -

Yes, more fabric!

I have been naughty...

I have been shopping again...

For fabric, of course!

I did need this fabric...

And even though I only wanted three quarters of a yard, the shop girl gave me what was left on the roll...

Cos she didn't want to cut it into fat quarters!

I ended up with nearly three yards for $5.00!!

There's nothing I like better than a bargain!

And just fell in love with this!

It is a wonderful linen by Lecien!

which I've teamed with a fabulous red spot!

It will make a fabulous bag, I think!

And I am also getting ready for some serious handquilting...

I haven't used these before and couldn't decide which colour to buy!

Or, as you can see, which size/No.???!!!

Pretty, hey?

I do have a definite plan though....

Have I given you enough clues.....? ? ?

I'm hand quilting my tree quilt, and I have the backing now too!

Now I just need to find the time!!

Happy sewing!

Tuesday Treasure - Vintage Buttons

I love vintage buttons!

This collection I mainly inherited from my mother...

This beauty is about one and a half inches across...

And it looks like its made from glass!

I'm lucky to have two of them !

And I have at least 3 of these lovelies!

The two white ones pictured here I picked up from a second hand store recently!

A pretty flower and a basket weave- fab!

And this one would have adorned my father's uniform when he worked on the

Victorian Railways back in the 40's, I think!

You can just about make out the VR!

And a buckle from my school uniform back in the 60's!

Mum made all our clothes in those days!

(She even made my wedding dress nearly 30 years ago!)

And a few more of interest-

Which ones do you like? I'd love to know!

Linking up with Melody's Tuesday Treasures too!

Happy sewing!
