Drawstring Bags

I gave you a little sneak peek of what I was working on

in my last post.

So I've made them doily and fabric scraps into

drawstring bags....

Of various sizes.

Most required nothing but bits and pieces from my

stash.

I did have to purchase some blue grosgrain ribbon to

finish the last two.

Now to decide on a price that will ensure they sell but

not so little than I'm practically giving them away!

Happy sewing!

Doily Bags

I gave you a sneak peek of this project recently...

But forgot to show you the finished product!

As well as making a doily quilt,

I had some larger, more special ones that needed

showcasing more!

This one has been claimed by my sister...

So a second one was planned...

and made!

The back,

and the inside with a pocket which is hard to see!

I want to make some more with these...

so I am considering other sayings:

"Happiness is...Op Shopping"

"Get Your Sparkle On"

"Treat Yourself"

"Make a Difference"

"Reward Yourself"

Do you prefer any of these over others?

Or do you have any suggestions for me?

Thanks!

Happy sewing,

Relishing Retirement

After a minor health issue recently,

retirement is starting to agree with me!

I seem to be busier than ever!

I love the freedom of being able to look after my

grandchildren when needed!

I've found time to prepare all the octagon square

blocks for my Bessie Creek Rd quilt,

which I'll finish by hand piecing.

These are the ones I've made so far!

I've finished the embroidery on my

Daisy Love Purse....

now to make it into a zippy pouch!

I recently purchased this lovely soft laminated cotton

from Frou Frou, a Parisian company.

I want to make a drawstring bag for travelling.

Finally, on the sewing front, I drafted a couple of

LeMoyne Stars for a small project I am planning.

Finally, I have been tagged in a couple of Instagram

posts recently,

with versions of my Scrappy Sandwiches tutorial,

being made by girls on a quilt retreat in the United

States!

It is very humbling knowing that my little blogposts

reach so far!

 Happy days indeed!

Miscellaneous....

The summer holidays are quickly coming to an end.

So I am a little reluctant to start anything new!

I decided it was time to quilt my "Delilah" quilt,

with some machine stitching to anchor everything

first.....

"Shadows of Love" is its formal name

then hand quilting, with a variegated Aurifil

thread in 12 weight!

I've added some new fat quarters to my stash.

Aren't those colours pretty?

And I "Marie Kondo-ed" it in my new little shelf.

I finished this hoop sometime ago.

                            Did I show you?

Finally I am making a little bear for my grandson Eli.

We love to go on adventures together!

                          Happy sewing!

A quick catch-up!

Summer is in full swing here, so there's lot to be done.

Evenings have been spent hand stitching....

The designer even shared it on Instagram yesterday!

And I've loved making this quilt top!

At a loose end, and not feeling like the basting,

quilting, binding rigmarole,

I decided to delve into my 2.5" scrap box.

I found I had already pieced thirty-two 4 by 4

blocks,

so kept going and came up with this.

Now to find some backing and get quilting!

I even have a recipient in mind.
Happy sewing!

What to take...

on a road trip that involves some flying too?

Mr PnP and I are off to New Zealand for 3+ weeks

tomorrow.

Now that the cabled jacket is complete...

I've returned to my embroidery...

Don't ask me what those black dots are?

a hoop I've been working on for months...

front ...

and a better idea of the colours from the back.

Now, where did I put that pattern?

I'm thinking I might take this drawing

Anna Maria Horner did for me back in June?

I'll make it into a bag of some sort when I get

home,

using these fabrics.

And maybe I'll take one of these cute panels,

I picked up this week!

adding some back and satin stitch and French knots

here and there.

See you in November!

Happy days....
