Playing Hooky!

With my Bricolage quilt my second finish for 2012, I decided to celebrate by 

taking it on its first photo shoot!

(Warning: Photo-heavy post follows.......)

Helen and I spent a fun hour or two at The Briars, in Mount Martha.

Playing Catch Up...

one stitch and one project at a time!

Thank you to everyone who made encouraging comments about my lost mojo!

 I am pleased to say that my Fab Little Quilt Swap quilt is finished!

I love it but I have never been more unsure about something I have made for a 

swap!

EVER!

Will my partner loathe the colours?

Will she be disappointed in the simple design?

Does it need more quilting?

So I started playing around with another idea....

which may or may not become my second option!

We'll see what reaction I get on Flick'r!

I think I will do some quilting on this and see how it goes?

Someone Stole My Mojo!

A headache combined with house guests and upsetting news from a friend

have conspired against me!

Not much sewing...

Not much blogging!

I have done some cutting...

of my "Summer Stars" setting diamonds

(this quilt has previously been none as "Stars in Your Eyes")

and some playing with solids....

for another planned mini?

And I received a little charm pack.....

from Quiet Play's fugly giveaway!

I am happy to know I have a plan for this....

Now I just need to find my MOJO!!

I promised...

some sewing!

Birthday celebrations are over for another year,

(Thank you for all your birthday wishes!)

So it's back to the important business of sewing.....

I had a great time playing with the layout of my last star for my 

"Stars in Your Eyes" quilt...

Would I do this...

or this?

Why didn't I think of trying this arrangement out for all of them?

Maybe not?

So all twelve are made...

and the two 'half' stars!

A word of warning, if you are making this quilt!

THIS IS A HALF STAR...

this..... 

is NOT! 

(The one in the drawing has 3 full points!  The pattern requires two full and two 

half points! )

And making a whole star and cutting it in half will not work!

Luckily I have enough patchwork experience to know about 1/4" seam 

allowances!

I also spent a very pleasant hour at my LQS auditioning fabric 


for the background ......

and backing fabric for my FLQS mini!

So a marathon cutting session of 42 diamonds awaits!

Being Spoilt!

Would you like to see what I received for my birthday?

Yes, I'm bragging!

Firstly Mr PnP bought me this fantastic book....

about the history of quilt making in Australia!

And it even contains patterns-

that's a bonus!

And my cycling friends were wonderful too...

They are definitely autumnal in tone!

and Christine!

And the prettiest pink nail polish from Jo.....

called "Pedal Faster Suzi" !!!

How amazing is that!!

And this is what I had for breakfast this morning....

Vanilla infused rice with berries, mango and shaved toasted coconut!

Yum!

I promise my next post will be a little more humble in tone

This fabric is not exactly ugly!

In fact I used the top fabric...Peas and Carrots...in a blouse, which I still wear!


It has a cute vintage feel to it!

I just don't think I will be able to use these any time soon!

Don't ask me what the other two fabrics are?

I'm sure they will be familiar to some of you.

Each of these pieces is about 20 inches square (or slightly more)

and up for grabs!!

In Case of an Emergency.....

Have you every wondered how your blogging friends would feel if you fell of the 

face of the earth?

Have you ever come across a blog where the author hasn't posted for weeks or 

months and wondered what happened to them?

What would happen if you got very sick or were in an accident and you weren't 

able to blog?

Well, I have!

So I've put things in place so this doesn't happen...


a little note here, and another one there!


So my loved ones can let my blogging friends know!

Well, I'm in a reflective mood today, as I consider my own mortality...

Because today is my birthday!

Yes, another year older....

And lots to be thankful for too!

And lovely Mary sent me this wonderful looking parcel....

which contained this rainbow of felt...

and the sweetest pattern for pincushions!

I'm going to have a great time with these!

And finally a very unique ring....

Gosh, my hands look much older than the rest of me! LOL!

...made from an antique (well, almost antique!) typewriter key!

Oh, and my very own initial!
