My weekend (part 2)

Finished here!

I managed to achieve all I set out to achieve..

And maybe even a bit more!

The last block for my Modern Sampler is DONE!!

And I am pleased with the result..

I was more than happy to use another piece of my favourite Eiffel Tower fabric!

And now to my design bed!

I'd love your opinions on the blocks as a total-

Should the mosaic block ( bottom right )....

Stay

OR

Go!

That block was where I started this journey over six months ago!

Does it work or should it be replaced?

What about the other blocks- anything screaming out at you?

Also, I'd love to hear if you have any ideas about putting this together?

Sashing?

I'm a bit afraid it might languish in the 'too-hard' basket if I don't get some inspiration!

Happy Sewing!

I love your block sampler.... let it languish for a little while whilst you look at it and decide....

Your blocks look wonderful all together!! I agree with BubzRugz that you should just let it sit for a while so you can think about it. I like the mosaic block and think it has a deserved place in a modern sampler, but you have to like it.

IMHO . . .the mosaic block balances the block opposite it in the upper left corner nicely. The one block that is not shining for me is the light one in the bottom left corner. Not sure how to handle that one but I think sashing with squares at the intersections (I know it has a name but it has left me at this moment) would show off all of your wonderful blocks!!! Love your color choices and the Eiffel Tower print it fantastic!!

Hi Suz! I absolutely love it! I wonder if you could you try this....take the mosaic block and switch it with the first block of the first row. I think the mosaic block tilts down and to the right...so I am thinking by putting it in the first spot...you are directing the eye downward and to the center. Just a thought...but I do love it...the center is just spectacular!

Well, I'm number 99!
Here's hoping for one more soon :)
I agree with letting it stew for a bit. If you're not settled about it, usually a good night's sleep helps - fresh eyes and all...

You have done such a fabulous job. I agree with Fiona, let it sit for a week or two, look at it again and then decide.

I may be the only one, but I think the mosaic block is a bit discordant in the overall scheme.
The other blocks are very structured and planned so they flow well from one to the other until you get to that one which is much more free styled and just doesn't quite seem to blend in (I think perhaps you see it too or you wouldn't be asking?).
I also think that a simple sashing would be perfect for separating the blocks to be appreciated individually while tying the whole thing together.
It is so lovely though and I love the colors.

I'm crap at block organising, but I will say that I would love to see it with sashing. I think it would really pull it all together and give each block it's own little stage, if you know what I mean.

Looks great! I would sew it up as is with some white sashing.

I think it should stay. I like it there - it adds a touch of independence to the top.

The mosaic is my fav. of them all. Leave it in. I love the sampler.

These are great blocks. I agree with Mary that the mosaic block might be happier in the upper left where it can lead the eye into the center. I would also move the lighter block at the bottom left over to the bottom right. I think it would be more balanced there. I love the idea of simple sashing with cornerstones. Beautiful sampler. Have a wonderful trip!
