The green theme continues!

I think it took me a while to realise that green is my favourite colour….

But there’s no denying I love wearing it!

I recently finished a blouse, made from a lovely rayon floral,

purchased at Darn Cheap Fabric sometime last year.

I remember we had not been out of lockdown very long,

And I had a lovely chat with another shopper about just browsing and touching fabric….

And dreaming of what we might make….

And having a reason to go out and wear our newly made garment!

And the pattern (New Look 6704) I chose was

purchased during a Spotlight sale…

Where again I chatted with a lady about our possible purchases.

This was a fairly easy pattern to make…

And I was very chuffed when the button loops pulled

through perfectly!

You can’t see it, but I finished the inside sleeve and side

seams with a French seams

So it’s almost as nice on the inside as on the out!

Now I guess I better find a place to wear my new

blouse.

Happy sewing!

Drifting along...

My sew-jo seemed to have taken a little holiday recently....

Although since Christmas, I've made a skirt,

which is a little crushed because I have worn it

a couple of times already!

And a blouse.....

I love gingham!

We have been experiencing terrible bush fires here
in Australia.

They have not affected me directly, apart from some
dreadfully smoky haze.

I do have friends in the north-east who have evacuated once and are now back on a 'watch and act' alert.

So I decided to join the call for 'cool ties' for the amazing firefighters, many of whom are volunteers!

These are so easy to make, using the free tutorial
found here.

I'd hoped to find my sewjo amongst my Cotton and Steele scraps...

and before I knew it I was pressing, cutting and piecing log cabin blocks!

Happy days!

Any progress...

is good progress!

I am slowly getting strength back into my hand,

Although it will be like this for another two weeks at least!

even if I only have two fingers and a thumb.

I've hand stitched, very slowly, two more

"Clambake" shapes....

managed some machine sewing of this Summer

blouse....

and I'm improvising Month #9 of Delilah....

appliqueing the circle rather than piecing it!

And if it all gets too much,

I have these to keep me busy!

Happy days!

Finishing...

Here in Australia the year isn't the only thing that

finishes in December...

The school year does too.

So I have been busy with all that entails....

But I do have some small finishes to share.

my "Pretty Potent" hand quilted cushion.

my new blouse,

and this baby quilt,

which deserves a post of its own,

when I get some better photos soon.

Because I don't have as much sewing time as I

would like...

these blocks have been calling me!

It probably takes longer to find the pretty fabric

combinations,

than it does to cut and sew one together!

And I am closing in on a finish of my hexie garden,

with only two more to applique.

 Then I can think

about an arrangement for them all.

What has been keeping you busy?

Happy days!

Better busy, than bored!

Don't you think?

I have been a busy girl...

making a pin cushion from this 'new-to-me' book.

I started my blouse over the weekend....

At night I hand quilt...

this is going to be a cushion cover.

I have also put together the backing for my

Christmas table runner...

just need to buy some batting!

And finally more 'square in a square' blocks...

starting with a 6.5" block and adding 2" borders.

This is my favourite one so far!

Never any chance of ME being bored!

Happy sewing!

Decisions, decisions!

School holidays are rapidly coming to an end...

I have cut up lots of 2.5" squares from my scraps...

and added to this 'travelling' block!

I added the top strip!

So what should I work on next?

Machine quilt this baby quilt?

Keep making more of these...

Yes, a new quilt!

Or make more pompoms.....

Hand quilt my Christmas runner?

cut out this top,

or make this cushion?

Does your WIPs list grow when you are on holidays?

Happy sewing!

A Change of Pace...

Due to an enforced period at home I have found lots

of different tasks to fill my time...

A "Lola" pouch...

This is Svetlana's wonderful pattern, found here...

I am planning on joining these hexies soon....

I have all but finished my "Melbourne Town"....

just working on these hexies,

the blue ones, not the pink.

 I've started a blouse...

with the help of my new dressmaker's dummy.

Finally I am planning something...

with this pretty bundle of bought and gifted fabric.

No chance of me getting bored!

Happy days,

A Flurry of Finishes!

Now that I have an internet connection again,

I have a few finishes to share!

My blouse.....

came together effortlessly!

Even the buttonholes were a breeze!

A zipper pouch which was gifted to my sister!

With an order for another one!

And a quilt flimsy!

I have been putting this one together

for over a year now...

My Museum Medallion!

This is where I was last year!

Ninety two inches square, mostly hand pieced!

Yes, I am mad!
I had to make 44 of these 6" DP blocks!
And four of these!
This last pieced border alone

was made from 432 pieces!

2014 will the year I will hand quilt this one.....

Come back next year for THIS finish!
