A Quick Recap....

 Three projects at different stages.

Firstly, I completed my Sille Slipover during the week....

(I think the use of the word 'vest' confuses some

 as what we know as a singlet is called a vest in Britain)

I knitted it slightly longer than the pattern suggests

because I like my lower back covered.

My "Violet Crumble" quilt is at the binding stage, 

which I will hand stitch to the back this week, 

while I'm on another short road trip.

I will get some glamour shots while I am away!

I am also planning my next quilt...

Tiny Towns Art Trail

After a hiatus for a few years because of 

'you know what' 

the Tiny Towns Art Trail was back this weekend! 

I visited three places yesterday - 

Firstly Clunes and its Textile Exhibition.

The organiser was adamant it wasn't a quilt show but I 

don't care what you call them, they were lovely!

I thought I could use this as inspiration for the quilting 

on my Sugar Gum Blossoms quilt!

There was a people's choice award.

It was hard to pick a favourite.....

Do you have one from this small sample?

Then I was off to Talbot where my sweet friend Trudy 

has a wonderful shop called "Playing in the Attic".

And her contribution, from an idea that has really 

taken off,

 is this display of 100 portraits - all done on a tiny 

4" canvas, from a wide range of artists.

Such talent and imagination on display!

Finally around the corner to Knit Queen 

and her knitted teapot creations!

That would be some tea party!

I do have some of my own knitting to share! 

I love the knitting part, but really procrastinate with 

the sewing up! 

I'm now busily hand-quilting my Wensleydale quilt.

Hopefully, I will be able to share that with you soon!

Knitting....

While I spend some of my days sewing,

my nights are often spent knitting, especially as the 

days grow cooler 

 

and the nights grow longer.

 

I have long wanted to knit socks!

 And tried many times…..and failed!

 

But I guess it was just about finding the easiest pattern 

for the old brain to follow!

 

For someone who made garments for more than forty 

years by sewing the pieces together,

 

there’s something pretty magical about creating a 

3D sock…..

                            With its heel flap, short rows and kitchener stitch!

 

My first effort with this pattern, Rose City Rollers by 

Mara Brynner on Ravelry,

 

was too big because I couldn’t find my small 2.25mm, 

toothpick-like needles!

It isn't actually pointy!

      I used 3mm needles and a yarn that maybe a 5ply?

 

Anyway, they are a little big but perfect for lounging 

 

around on the couch in Winter.

 

The second pair, right size needle, right size yarn are 

much better.

I changed up the cuff which is not perfect but for me it's 

a learning experience.

 

Now I want to make more, in different designs and 

fabulous colours.... 

 

Just wish I could knit quicker!

But in the meantime, I'm hand piecing these bits for my 

Hearts Garden quilt......

Splosh!

 That was the name of the green wool I picked up in an 

op shop recently!

My new jumper is a long sleeved version of the 

Soldotna crop!

I think it came together perfectly....

It was even a pleasure burying all those threads..

😁

On a bit of side note, do you find reading my blog 

difficult because all the text is centred?

I have a feeling one of my long time followers has 

stopped reading my blog for this reason!

Never mind....their loss!

Everything looks good with a pompom!

I also knitted up this little beanie, 

while I was away on holidays recently!

It is made from a self striping yarn- 

Patons 4ply Dreamtime Merino!

I now need to find another project for nights in front of 

the TV!

Two weeks into 2022

 and barely a stitch has been sewn!

I have moved house after spending 18 years in my 

previous 'home'.

During the unpacking, I managed to rip one of my 

favourite "Gorman" dresses....

Not a large hole but front, centre and at knee level.

So I decided on some visible mending....

 a little piece of fabric from my extensive stash was 

found....

 and applied with a running stitch of stranded 

embroidery thread.

I also sewed a denim skirt, challenging myself with a fly 

zip closure....

The colour is not a true representation

YouTube is your friend when the pattern's instructions 

are brief and confusing! 

When I get the buttonhole made and the button sewn 

on, I'll to share another photo.

I have enjoyed knitting in the evenings....

I find it very relaxing! 

This will be a long sleeved version of my Soldotna top 

which I made a couple of years ago.

Now that we are settled into our 'temporary' home,

 where we will be for about five months,

I'm planning my first quilt for 2022....

and my second and third!

A bit of this....

 a bit of that....!

The pandemic roller coaster continues here...

no sooner are we out of one lockdown,

enjoying the freedom of meeting up - outside - with 

friends, or coffee catch-ups,

than we are again, confined to our homes with only the 

five essential reasons to leave!

So what is one to do but craft.....?

I finished this jumper last weekend, then 'wet blocked' 

it, and am so pleased with how it turned out!

I decided it was time to start another quilt and loved 

how these fabrics played together!

Kirsty at Bonjour Quilts designed this pattern, which she 

calls Scrappy Posie, available free on her blog.

Unfortunately I don't have any fabric in my stash for 

backing at this stage.

I'll have to wait until lockdown finishes to solve that 

problem!

Finally, I made some little (about 3") pyramid shaped 

lavender pouches!

They are cleverly made with two squares of fabric from 

a tutorial at Patchwork Posse.

I'm planning on starting this cushion next...
