This is what I started with, two tubs of scraps....
I sorted into strips
and smaller squares and rectangles
I'd decided to make a string quilt based on one I'd
seen on Pinterest,

And started making blocks.
I'm foundation paper piecing the blocks to ensure the
stability of all those seams
I'm really liking where it is headed.
I'll be back when I have more to show you.
Have you ever made a string quilt?

I'm loving where all your pretty string blocks are heading. Scraps so insignificant on their own always look fabulous gathered together any which way on a quilt. Scrappy string quilts always look splendid. I have never fashioned one, but I would love to, one day.
I think it's looking fabulous too.
You have some lovely fabric scraps! I once made a string quilt with using African fabrics. Yours is looking so cheerful!
With foundation paper piecing, are you sewing on a piece of paper? Do you pull off the papers when you have the blocks finished? It is a very pretty quilt.
Loving it.........sorting scraps is sort of scary & fun. I've been doing a QAL with Sandra from mmm.quilts just from scraps & a bit of stash. Look forward to seeing yours come together. Take care & hugs.
What's not to LOVE about string quilts???? So addictive to make! And I love seeing other folk's fabrics!!!! This will be a beauty! Think it's time for me to start another one!
Wow, look what happens when we start playing with scraps.
Your blocks are looking wonderful.
I have often been tempted but have never made one. I will enjoy watching yours grow.
Ooo yes! Scrappy quilts seems to be popping up lately, all over blog-land. Love seeing your scrap pile, and then your organized piles. Such a satisfying feeling, right? I do love a nice string quilt, and have made several of them myself, using Bonnie Hunter's tutorial that's has you make blocks on a foundation of a telephone book page. Your blocks are colorful. Happy. Just divine.
Your scrap pile, organized, is a thing of beauty. Mine are stuffed in various places and not as beautiful. And then your scrap blocks are wonderful, too! Having seen the quilt at a later date, I know it will be terrific when finished.
I once started a selvages string quilt, and yes, I should get back to it. I started cleaning out the sewing space the other day, hunting for my Santa fabric, and found them again. I do love them, and then to see yours, in process, tells me I should move them to the top of the list. Thank you for the inspiration!
