I decided on this traditional layout for my latest
finish!
finish!
I made a little 'cross stitch' type block to fill a gap...
and lots of two-toned, checkerboard pieces too!
I tried out some new homemade spray glue for
and I must say, I'm sold!
I've never found it easier to baste, nor been happier
with the way the quilt sandwich held together!
with the way the quilt sandwich held together!
Any puckering I blame solely on my wonky piecing!
A downside of the spray is that it needs to be
washed out promptly;
so the rest of these photos are after the quilt has
been washed and dried.
been washed and dried.
Given the Summer weather here,
and the fudging I did to get some pieces to fit,
the name seemed obvious!
Isn't that garden pretty?
This is my favourite place to take photos!

I have always wanted to make a quilt with different sized blocks. Creative fudging seems to work and the freshly washed quilt is so lovely.
Really nice quilt and love how you were able to fit blocks and get them all together....very pretty quilt....
Looks great not that it is finished, you work fast :) I love how you have used the two grey toned Pearl Bracelets (??) fabric for your chequerboard blocks and the solid bits of sashing, nice continuity. I didn't spot the flying pig before, so cute.
very fun quilt In fact, I love it.
It's really lovely! So cheerful and fresh. And I love the big polka dot you used on the binding! :)
I'd love to hear more about your homemade spray glue, too.
That has turned out brilliantly, Susan. You must be so pleased with it. I wish I had some orphan blocks lying around the house to give it a go! :)
This turned out so well, where did you get the recipe for your spray?
This is a fun quilt, with great colours. Congrats on the finish.
The quilt looks great.... Love all the pics......
Wonderful quilt, so much to look at! I love how you used those grey 'pearl bracelet' fabrics as your filler, very effective. And you have taken some lovely photos. {My mission this year it to improve on my photo skills}
Haven't tried homemade glue basting spray, although I have tried homemade starch. Found that it did explode somewhat when left in the container for a long period of time.
What a beautiful, unique quilt! I love hearing about how other quilters come up with names for their quilt.
I love this! Such a great combination of blocks. Keeps your eyes moving.
Very cute, and such a great "memory" quilt with all those blocks! I love the setting and yes, that flower patch; such a great backdrop for your terrific quilt. Thanks for being a Gridster!
Great finish to Hot Fudge. I am a little late with my comment but here I am!
I think the setting works well for these blocks. Not easy as they are so varied, yet you have pulled it together perfectly. I especially like the addition of the cross stitch block.
Love the location for your photos, too.
