....just not much!
My sister was quite taken by this bag and asked if I'd
make her one!
The major problem is that it is from the Marie Claire
Idees magazine....
All in French!
So before I cut into her pretty stack of fabric....
I decided to do a practice one...
I think it will all work out in the end!
(I do like a challenge!)
But, does anyone read French?
My medallion quilt is slowly coming together....

I hope to have more of this to show you soon!
Happy sewing!

It took me three months of 3rd form french to work out that "oui" was really "wee" - so I hope that there are some good photos. Are you going to do similar quilting? Looks like a lovely magazine. PS Had a bit of fun with that photo website... thanks for the link!
Mais oui! If some phrases are giving you trouble I might be able to help. The quilting on the bag looks fab - keen to see how yours turns out!
see you dont need to speak French!! good job x
Un peu... Let me know if you need any help!
Bon courage Susan - looks like you are doing fine on your own!
Sorry I am not going to be of much help with the French. I used to speak it fairly well (wonders of having a French boyfriend) but it was a long, long time ago and sewing instructions in French is very different from teenage chatter LOL.
It looks like you're doing just great though :)
Sorry...I can't help you there. It looks good though! I love the way this medallion is turning out!
I am French ... so that should help. I am a Marie Claire Idees subscriber - which one is the pattern coming from? I may have it at home and help you out..
Looks like you will get some good help with the translation and the bag you have started looks good to me. I cannot wait to see more of your Museum Medallion, it looks fabulous so far. xo
Real people to help is best but there is also google translator and other such programs that help too. The bag is going to be lovely.
The Marie Claire magazine bag is really great. I can't wait to see the one you make for your sister.
Does your pattern have lots of illustrations??? :) The test bag looks great. Sorry, can't help you with the French!
All those helpful folks! My school French has been superseded by Google Translate!
It looks as though you've figured out the pattern, the test one looks brilliant. Great to see your medallion is coming along. You can never use too many pins.
Well if you are stuck you can always email me, I am French so might be able to help and translate! Marie Claire Idees explanations are usually not very detailled anyway, even when you read French and there aren't much drawings or pictures to help either. You seem to be doing well regardless.
I am so impressed that you got this far without written instructions! I really like the lines of this bag. Looks lovely. Love the colors in your medallion and the cute button head pins!
No help with the french but good luck with the bag.
oh my, that arc for your medallion quilt is such a TEASE! looks like it's going to be one incredible quilt. and have fun with those french instructions, i took a year of french in high school and a semester in college... but retained NONE of it, haha!
Looks like you have quite a few helpers for the French translation although your practice bag looks fab so you may not need the extra help. I'm looking forward to seeing the one you make for your sister.
The snippet of the medallion looks great too. I agree with Rachael, you can never use too many pins!
lovely bag! I also speak fluent french, so if you ever need anything translating, let me know!
