The Story of Big Little George

I really wanted to join in the fun with Lynne over at Lily's Quilts making a

Big Little George block.

I couldn't print off a pattern as I barely have enough room in my little home for

my sewing machine, let alone a printer!

So I resorted to my favourite foundation piecing book and drafted my own.

I have previously made Mariner's Compass and New York Beauty blocks but this

one certainly tested my skills.....

Lots of little pieces that needed lining up and LOTS of curves!

I tackle the curves from the centre out...

pinning in the centre first, then the outer corners....

But still the unpicker got a plenty of use!

But I am fairly satisfied with how it has turned out..

It is a rather large 17 inches.

I have decided to use a number of blocks I have made recently in this

blue/green/aqua/turquoise colour palette to make a modern sampler quilt!

What block should I make next?

All suggestions gratefully considered!

Happy sewing...

I love your Big Little George block and think it's a great idea to make a sampler with your other blocks. I like to make sample "test" blocks and also plan to use my BLG block in a sampler with other complex orphan blocks I've made.

I would love to have an "unpicker" just like yours...where did you find it?
