It's such a great exhibition. I'm already wishing I could go back and see it.
How fabulous, hope it comes to NZ. I think the creator of that hexi quilt was probably almost blind upon completion of that.

It was definitely worth the visit. (I went last Saturday.) I am so pleased you enjoyed it. Seeing quilts this old with all that information reminds me of the importance of putting a label on our quilts.
This seems to be a wonderful exhibition! You MUST visit it again :-) I have never seen a quilt exhibition in a museum here in Germany... There aren't any... :-(
I love that there is an exhibit pertaining to the Australian quilt, as there is really a unique quality to many that I see--a marrying of fabrics and visual textures that is so appealing. You must have been in heaven!

I think a few of those old quilts are in the book about Australia's quilts that Di J. gave me when I visited there. Neat designs made back in the day when a woman spent a lifetime on one quilt, likely because supplies for more weren't available. And I know some were made by convicts during ship crossings. Really interesting stuff.
Wonderfully inspiring it must be to visit an exhibition like this one.
Gulp... at times it's hard to believe some of the designs are historic pieces. And those hexies...!!
Thanks for sharing those quilts. The teeny teeny tiny hexagons are amazing. I can't imagine making something that size from something so very small.
Wished I didn't live so far away...... Amazing is all reports i get......
