Of This and That.....

It doesn't get much more random than this for me....

given that my weeks, at the moment,

consist primarily of work....

I did pick up another sweet little pair of 'antique'

scissors,

to add to my growing collection!

Cut out another 72 pieces for Jazz Hands #9.....

and finished up Dasher!

Just not sure where to go with this?

Suggestions?

I also purchased this pattern that I have always

wanted to make.....

...probably a long term project!

Confetti!

No, not wedding bells...

But a new quilt!

This was a pattern I won from Mary's Cottage Quilts

blog...
Can you see the mistake?
I just spotted it as I up loaded the photo!
Duh!

The border fabric is called "Chloe"- appropriate for a

baby girl's quilt, don't you think?

The border reminds me of confetti so I am staying

with that name...

So with backing and thread at the ready......

I guess I'll be finishing this one real soon!

Happy sewing!

Really Random Thursday....

A little snapshot of my week...

I took my Summer Stars to the beach....

The Medallion quilt workshop I'm doing....

with Judy Newman in September.

Another Jazz Hands block complete!

And a little Christmas stitchery....

How is your week shaping up?

Happy days!

A Slow Sunday......

I have turned some of this.....

into this....

The unpicker has a real workout!

and hope to have it finished soon!

Until then I thought you might like to have a look at

some new fabric I have 'acquired'!

Importantly, I have plans for some of it!

In the meantime I am just enjoying looking at it....

How are you spending your Sunday?

Random Inspiration....

My sewing has stalled somewhat so I thought I'd

share some random colour inspiration!

These were taken in Sydney,

at the Museum of Contemporary Art.....

yes, cotton reels!

interesting use of colour and shape!

amazing stitching on paper.....

Love the colours in this!

My First Bee.....

I have never been in a bee before.....

Well, not a regular one!

I did swap embroidery blocks on a couple of

occasions last year or the year before....

I'm pretty excited to be participating in this bee...

(aka "Modern Stitching Bee"!)

August is Leanne's month and she requested....

Grannies, with a border!

I made this one before I realised she wanted

scrappy...

That'll teach me to not read the instructions

carefully....

This, however, is an official one!

and this one too....

I hope Leanne enjoys them as much as I enjoyed

making them for her!

What bees are you participating in at the moment?

Castle Tiles....

That is the name I have given my Echo quilt....

well, its just a quilt TOP at this stage!

I have had my "Echo" stash for such a long time,

waiting til I found the perfect pattern!

And this is it!

 I based "Castle Tiles" on....

You might be able to see where I have made some of my changes to the pattern....

this quilt from a recent Australian Homespun

magazine,

by Bec from Chasing Cottons.

(Should I make this quilt again, I would definitely

make fewer HSTs and more flying geese.)

I was then on the hunt for the perfect solid!

When Kylie @ Patchwork House told me it was called

Castle Brown, I knew it would work!

I vacillated (great word, hey) between adding another

border when it was this size (above)....

But because of these.....

Bias edges all the way round!

I did!

(The colours are not quite right in this early morning

photo!)

Now the hunt is on for backing....

 and quilting ideas?

It is not a big quilt by any means -57" X 71"-

but perfectly lap size!

I think my post-quilting photos will be better!

Happy sewing!
