Slowing down!

 I decided to take a short break from quilt making for 

my next bout of crafting!

So I finished this table runner, started during my recent 

ruler class.

Due to COVID restrictions, some classes have not gone 

ahead; I am not sure when they will be re-scheduled.

In fact, I am not sure I am going to bother going back!

I think I learned more from YouTube than I did from the 

teacher!

Then I put this pretty pile of textiles together...

the doily was a gift from a friend,

so I decided to make a little 'doll' quilt, 

one for her, one for me!

I'm adding some hand stitching- maybe crosses, French 

knots and hand quilting, possibly some little yo-yos?

Finally I had seen this lovely project bag on Instagram.

And when I was able to source the eyelets locally,

I decided it would make a great knitting bag.

I'm enjoying the slower pace of hand stitching!

Rosy Posy...

Today I reveal my mini quilt as part of the second 

round of the "Four-In-Art" challenge.

I have chosen to construct a mini linking 

life with literature...

The origins of nursery rhymes are said to 

reflect events in history.

"Ring a Ring o' Roses

A pocket full of posies

A-tishoo, A-tishoo

We all fall down"

 is supposed to be about the Bubonic Plague!

(But I won't let the truth 

get in the way of a good story!)

My design, this time, developed 

as I cut and stitched...

Trying out ideas and discarding them...

The yo-yos and flowers stayed....

and hand quilting and subtle printing were added!

along with a new tissue-like pocket!

I will leave any further explanation 

to your imagination!

Art is like that, don't you think?

Sew slow.....

This is the way my sewing has been going recently...

Echidnas don't move too fast!

I made a triangle pouch from a tutorial found at

"A Spoonful of Sugar" blog

I need to tidy up my zipper ends 

for the next one!

I also made a couple of 'gender neutral' bibs,

for my sister to gift.

And finally I am making some pretty yo-yos ...

for my next Four-In-Art mini!

Like that echidna, I'll have my head down this week, 

getting my school work finished before our next 

term break!

Then maybe I will "sew fast!"

Candle Mat Swap

I am participating in the next Quilting Gallery Swap.

These are fairly easy swaps because a pattern is provided and the only decisions one has to make relate

to fabric and color choice, according to your partners preference.

I decided to try the pattern out and make a mat for my own.

There have been some subtle changes made.

Its being used as a placemat for the moment.

I added ric rac and a little orange yo-yo to the corner.

 I absolutely love how it turned out!

We will be receiving our partner's name in the next day or two.

Then the fun really begins!
