My Bessie Creek Road quilt is slowly coming along....
I hand pieced the centre star
and it's playing nicely with its neighbours.
All twenty of the hexie flowers are complete...
I have now also finished the circle squares...
made my way!
I pieced a four patch block and then ironed a freezer
paper template to the back,
cut it out with a 1/4" seam
and painted a thin line of Flatter, a spray type starch,
around the edge, before pressing.
This Flatter spray smell amazing! |
This helps the seam to sit down flat for applique!
It was then time to see how the blocks were looking
altogether.
This arrangement (above) is the square version, but
not the actual one, but shows most of the blocks
complete so far.
This is how the layout will look, except the hexie
blocks will be in the outer rounds.
Four more different designed blocks to do....
mostly hand piecing!
So lots of prep still to come!
Happy sewing!

Just gorgeous. I'm loving everything about this beauty.
I love how this quilt is coming along! You’ve chosen lovely fabrics!
Hey Suz,
this will be a beautyful quilt! I like the colour combinations.
I applique circels also that way with paper templates.
Happy sewing Doris :o)
Really nice, Susan! You're sure going to a lot of work to make each block perfectly... hand-piecing and hand-appliqué. This is gonna be a glorious quilt! I'm glad you're finding time to be creative.
That's going to be a beautiful quilt when it's finished. I love what you have so far!
OMG!!! It's looking great & you'll have to do one of your "hero" photos with a Bessie Creek Road sign as a prop when finished.(giggle).
Take care & stay safe. After thought.....we've had some rain overnight, have you?
Wow, you are making great progress with all the blocks for this quilt. Love the way they look together. I admire your patience with the hand sewing!
Oh, I'm really liking that second layout just the way it is.
I am just loving this!
A delightful project, I love all this scrappy colour! And to be hand stitching... it'll be super precious & special when it's all finished.
I so love this quilt. I love the combination of all the blocks, and the colors and contrasts and the different shapes of everything. You are amazing in getting them all done, and progressing along. Bravo!
