An Evening with Kaffe!

While I may not be spending so much of my $$$$ on

fabric this year....

hearing inspirational quilters speak and share their

quilts is high on my list!

Cutting Cloth in Fairfield was one of the stops on

Kaffe Fassett's (rhymes with 'safe asset') latest tour.

The shop...

and restaurant venue were adorned with all his

Love that green!

glorious colour!

The quilting was only on the purple solid-minimal but so effective

I'll be honest, I own very little Kaffe fabric....

I'd love to make something like this!

but I love his graphic designs, use of colour and

Fabulous use of a 16-patch and border fabric

simple quilting!

And the battings are so thin, apparently good for

travelling!

Of course, there was the obligatory book signing!

 and photo op!

Thanks Kellie for a very memorable evening!

Happy sewing!

Wow, what an occasion that would have been. I think I would like to make a Kaffe quilt one day - I quite like the hexi flower one from his Bold Blooms book, not quite so coloured and vibrant as the others. Good photo of you with them.

Great group photos. No one is wearing beige!
I love Kaffe collective fabrics, but I don’t have a huge amount of them, either. I tend to buy them for projects and use them up fairly quickly.

Glad you enjoyed the lecture. As you know, I'm a fan of his fabrics and heard one of his lectures a couple of years ago. Love all the color in his work.

I saw this was on but it clashed with other plans. Would have loved it.
So glad you were able to make it and that it turned out to be a great time.

Oh Susan! You look so wonderful, and happy in these pictures! How fun for you to get to participate in a quilt-y event. I'm glad you had a chance to meet such celebrities. I don't own Kaffe fabrics either, but I sure appreciate the way he and Brandon use color. I'm just not a huge fan of florals. What an opportunity for you! I'm glad you had a chance to take advantage of it.

What fun! I love his fabrics, yet I don't own a lot of them. The vibrant colors get me every time!

Looks like a great opportunity for some inspiration ...(but I am glad I don't have to figure out that handwriting.)

Sounds like you enjoyed yourself. I met Kaffe and Brandon when they were here some years ago.

Ah, Susan! You look great! What a fun even and to get a book with both of them signing it has to be a real treasure. I have a sweet little stack of half-yards of his fabric. I use them a lot for fussy cutting, so some of them are really Swiss cheesey-like. But they are a treasure and I love his work!

Such a great night out. I love the 16 patch blocks with the polka dot fabrics.

I am not a Kaffe fan... I tend to only like a few of the fabrics, and not so keen on the books, BUT I think there is nothing more enjoyable than listening to someone passionate about what they do. I'm sure they were enthralling. What a wonderful opportunity!

Very cool! What a great opportunity!

Do you happen to know the name of the circles in squares quilt? I'd love to find that pattern.

Hi!
Your patchworks are really special. My favorite is one with random polka in straight arrangement order.
Do you have an account on Etsy?!

I adore Kaffe Fassett fabrics and I'm lucky to live only 35 minutes from MSQC. In Hamilton, MO. Several years ago I just happened to go to MSQC and I found out Kaffe and Brandon Mabley were both in Hamilton. I was shocked and I ended up being able to attend his afternoon lecture on Color, Prints, etc. I also just happened to have one of his books with me. They both signed my book. It was a very special day. ** My Very Lucky Day. **

I absolutely love Kaffe Fassett fabric. Heard him speak in Ottawa quite a few years ago.
