Gridster Bee!

I have mentioned this bee before but didn't explain

things in detail.

We are Gridsters because we are working from a

grid, posted on Google docs.

I was Queen Bee for January and requested a

NYBeauty block.

I used this block as my inspiration....

asking for a royal blue, pink, red palette,

with a little yellow and black/white prints thrown in

for good measure!

These are the blocks I have received so far....

I'm still waiting for three blocks to arrive, and have

more of my own to make,

before I decide on how I am going to set them.

So in the meantime, I've made the pineapple block

Sherri requested for February.

This year I am making myself an extra block of each

month's request.

And will make myself a sampler quilt as a memory of

my gridster experience.

Happy sewing!

Your NYB blocks are wonderful! The little bits of B&W play nicely with the brights.

Queen Bee, you picked a fine block for January. Your NYB block is so lovely and definitely up your alley. I can't wait to see all of your blocks together.

You have received a lovely variety of blocks so far. And the pineapples look like fun. Making your own sampler quilt will be very interesting, too, as the blocks will be quite varied.
Have fun!

I love your idea of making a second block, so you can have a separate quote at the end. You always have great ideas. I like how your pineapple turned out and your New York Beauty blocks are so amazing. Fabulous!

These New York Beauty blocks are beauties! It's a "someday" block for me, one that I probably won't ever get to. But I sure like the scrappy quality of these. They look like a lot of work! Pineapples are nice too. What a good group you're in.

You have received some lovely blocks and even though they are made by different people they go together well, you will have fun trying out different layouts with them all.

What a cool way of approaching a bee project. Looks like lots of fun - and everyone gets what they want. I agree that making an extra block will give you a wonderful memory of the exchange. I look forward to seeing how this progresses during the year.
