It was my great pleasure to test a new pattern for
my friend Kirsty @ Bonjour Quilts!
I really admire her work and ideas...
She calls her pattern "Diamonds in the Deep",
but I used a sunny Kona Daffodil yellow
for my baby version - hence the name.
I used a visit to Port Nepean to do
a little photo shoot!
This Ikea print was perfect for the backing....
Firstly I machine quilted in the ditch
in a large cross hatch pattern...
The Port Nepean cemetry |
and then couldn't resist adding some hand quilting!
Here it is after a wash and tumble dry...
It didn't fade, just blame the photographer! |
all snuggly and being used by an August baby!
More details on this wonderful pattern
can be found here
Thanks Helen for being my quilt holder! |
Happy days!

Wow! This looks great! I love all that yellow! You did a fabulous job!
Absolutely Beautiful. I adore the yellow. Lovely pattern and great photo shoot! xo
I really love how this turned out. Thank you so much for testing! x x
This is absolutely stunning. I am in love with the colors and the pattern.
Such a beautiful quilt - the yellow with the grey/LV fabrics looks stunning! Your photos are lovely too.
I love the yellow, but then daffodils are among my favourite flowers.
What a beautiful quilt, and it's photographed in such a lovely location! That blue sky couldn't be a more perfect contrast to the sunny colors in your quilt. And how wonderful that you live so close to the ocean. It's very generous of you to be giving away that quilt, after spending so much time quilting it - by machine and by hand! So impressive. You created a treasure, Susan.
It makes a lovely change to see a quilt with so much yellow in it. Fabulous photos too.
Yellow is not one of my go to colours - but it looks terrific with those neutral/black prints. The pattern looks simple at first glance - but in fact has just the right amount of complexity to make it interesting. It sort of has a top and bottom - would you have the dark bit at the bottom?
Very nice! I love your bright and sunny take on this nice pattern ... :) Pat
Love it....but I'm biased, I also tested the pattern! Its really interesting seeing just how different it looks in different colours. cant wait to see the others.
A very sunny happy quilt
What a beautiful color combination. I love this quilt.
Ah, Suz! This is just such a perfect quilt in perfect colors! I love the use of the daffodil yellow for a baby quilt, and the design is also top-notch. How you manage to fit everything in to your schedule--you amaze me.
Thanks for a beautiful post about this lovely quilt.
Elizabeth
It's gorgeous Susan, I love your choice of colours.
its not often I see a yellow quilt but I really like it :-)
I really love this one! There is something special the way how the colours blend in. Truly gorgeous!
This quilt is adorable! It's so happy and playful - it's perfect for an August baby! Love it!
I love the way it gradually goes from dark gray to stunning yellow! Great work!
I just added this quilt to my must make list. It's a beauty
Oh, I love it! What a treasure, Susan. Your photographs are so lovely....I'm writing from the beach (where I seldom get to visit) and wishing that I had a quilt with me for a photo shoot, now. What a beautiful sky and water. Today I saw a plant called Ink Berries (do you know it?) at a botonical garden. I was told that it was an Australian plant.... darling blue berries all over airy vines low to the ground. I can't grow them in my climate, unfortunately. That has nothing to do with your quilt, I know...ha!
What a gorgeous quilt and a beautiful photo shoot! I really love that soft shade of yellow.
Very beautiful choice of colours, bravo !
