I've long admired the quilts made by Linda at KokaQuilts
Check out the beautiful quilts she makes....
And when I saw her Log Cabin quilt, I knew I had to make one too.

There's also a sew-along happening on Instagram
and while I
considered joining in, I could not justify paying over
$20 for the pattern that was required to join in...
I mean, it's a log cabin block for goodness sake!

Initially, I was hoping to use my scraps but after getting
frustrated looking for suitably sized fabric, I've now
resorted to stash.

You can tell from this photo (above)the effect I am
aiming for.
I decided I needed more of a plan after all the random
piecing and piles of messy fabric...
design board made for an efficient piecing process.
supplement them with a purchase of some
blue and greens, and maybe some pretty strong florals!
Oh, I've decided to call it Carisbrook Cabin and hope to
get photos here....

The jail is probably not as cosy as a cabin, but this is as close as it gets!
There aren't a lot of log cabins in
Australia.😄

Yes, this simple pattern, I wouldn't pay for either.
I think you will make a nice quilt with it, even if you would use only solid colours.

Those are cute tissue covers, especially with the addition of a little tab. Makes it distinctive! And your log cabins are lovely. Though I'm not a fan of log cabin blocks myself, I'm a pushover for a combo of scraps and solids. Wish I could share some of my solids with you, as I have loads of them now. Since focusing on buying solids about three years ago, my stash of those is more than my stash of prints. Want to mention that your link to Kokaquilts is broken.

It's going to look very colourful in a pretty way with that mix of florals. If you look carefully, there are quite a few log cabin type buildings around, especially the old shearer's huts. Look forward to seeing it in such a gorgeous setting. Take care & hugs.
Now sleeping under my recent finished log cabin, It isn't as colorful as yours but it was fun and easy to make. Your pre-sewing layout looks just like the way I did it.

I've made only one log cabin quilt but it turned out to be one of my favorites. Perhaps this will be one of yours, too. And I'd love to see a colorful quilt alongside that log cabin jail. So neat.
