A Catch-Up!

A two-week lockdown meant lots of sewing time!

So Bessie Creek Road is now a flimsy!

I'm calling her "Peppermint Parade"

for all the minty colours in it.

I intend to hand quilt this one....

I just need to get it basted first!

My scrappy rainbow blocks are together too.

I posted this photo on Instagram,

and many followers liked the possibility of dark sashing.

But with dark winter days here, I wanted something

lighter.

I turned them 'on-point, and added a neutral sashing

and spotted cornerstones.

It did require making a few more blocks for the edges

but ....

today I got it basted!

Happy sewing...

SUZ

Love your quilts! Love that pattern too. Who made "Bessie Creek Rd" pattern?

Gorgeous quilts😍. We are so lucky we sew. I live in NSW and visited my daughter in Moree last weekend where she was on placement. We are now all self isolating until midnight Friday. It is great to have something I want to do during this time.

Love all of these! I see your work over on ig too of course, but I do enjoy reading more about the "bigger" picture! And the larger pics suit me better too... lately I can't really be bothered with so many little pics & no background story on my phone!

Utterly fabulous. Good luck with the basting, it is my least favourite part of quilting!

Very nice tops and will be fun quilting these....love that you went with the lighter sashing on the second one. Everyone has different taste but feel this is a great choice...

A most interesting finished flimsy, the mint one (already forgot exact name). What intrigues me most is the fnger effect of the Grandmother's Fan done with alternating blades in background color.

I love what you did with the blocks. Light is definitely better and the on point was a great choice.

Love, love the Bessie Creek Quilt & I'll wait under the sign when you need to take a photo(giggle). The rainbow blocks look good & I certainly understand about the dark sashing dilemma as the weather has been atrocious with both floods & wind damage, especially here in Gippsland. Look forward to seeing them both quilted. Take care & hugs.

Every time I see your Bessie Creek Quilt, I am amazed at the power of different blocks to create an exciting design. I also want to add it to my list of quilts to make!

Love the light sashing with the cornerstones--that was a good call, giving that colorful quilt a chance to bring some light into your life!

You have been sewing up a storm! Wonderful work on both quilt tops.
BCR is beautiful. Gorgeous blocks and lovely colours. There is so much work in each of these lovely blocks. And I think Peppermint Parade works very well, too, as a name!
Lovely work on your scrappy rainbow top as well. A big contrast in colours tot he first one. The randomness of the piecing makes them very interesting. And the lighter background definitely works.
Looks like you have a lot of hand quilting ahead of you.

Suz, your Bessie Creek Quilt is amazing! I absolutely adore it! I’m going to have to check it out more carefully, because I think I might have to add it to my list of quilts to make, too! As well, your rainbow blocks are delicious! On point with light sashing was the perfect choice!

Bessie Creek is just lovely and will be even more so with hand quilting. My hat's off to you for tackling that. Hand quilting is something I will probably never do but I sure think it's beautiful.
