WIPs Wednesday!

I cannot remember the last time I wrote a WIPS 

Wednesday post!

So here's what I have been up to...

I have finished piecing the backing for 

my Modern Amish,

with the arrival of Elizabeth's siggy block.

I now just need the inclination to baste it all 

together!

I have been slowly piecing my Triangle Quilt,

which is proving to be a challenge,

matching up all those points!

Stepping around it on my 'design floor' is also 

a challenge!

Finally I have made a bunting from some 

sweet novelty prints!

What have you been up to?

My week....

I visited my sister at the weekend, 

and she had a little surprise for me!

Children's sewing machines!

The Singer is from the sixties 

and made in France;

The green one, a Japanese model!

I was thrilled to find they both work 

when battery powered!

The Singer even came with it's instruction booklet 

and spare needles!

The mailman delivered a much anticipated parcel 

this week too...

I forgot to include the lovely piece of fabric in the parcel.

from my sweet friend Mary 

Mary's equally talented daughter Molly,

made the embroidered hoop with my initial!

Isn't it beautiful?

I had a couple of hours in my sewing room 

this afternoon....

and decided my oft-used threads 

would look great in the sewing carrier!

I also did some sewing

(yes, that's a novel idea!)

Can you guess what that will become?

I hope to have a finished quilt ready to share 

with you soon too!

Busy bee-ing!

I have entered my third year in the 

Mid-Century Modern Bee, 

and boy, do I love this Bee!

I have made such a variety of blocks and made such 

wonderful friends!

Elizabeth was Queen for January,

and this is what I made!

I loved cutting into my Echinacea fabric for this...

"Memory" star.

And for February I baked Carla a cake,

following a tutorial found at Ellison Lane!

After recent events I was sorely tempted to pop a 

candle on the top!

Why "Mid-Century" I hear some of you ask?

It is because all the members are of a certain, um....

vintage!

Somethings gotta give!

With both Tennis and work commitments, 

sewing has taken a back seat these last three weeks.

I'd really like to get this quilt quilted...

Slightly disguised as I'm pattern testing this one....

At least I have batting and backing sorted!

I did start this....

But have progressed no further than some stitching, 

cutting and playing!

Small windows of sewing opportunity were 

spent creating Olive.

A RicRac design!

I'm having another weekend off, 

this time to spend it in the city with Mr PnP....

There may be a birthday to celebrate?

Presenting "Rosetta"

I have set myself a challenge this year by joining 

the "Four-in-Art" mini group over on Flick'r-

We have decided that we will explore the 

theme of Literature this year.

For my first mini I have narrowed this down to look 

at the development of written language.

Last year, while in France, I visited a museum 

dedicated to Jean Francois Champollion

who deciphered the Egyptian hieroglyphics

of the Rosetta stone.

Outside the Museum in Figeac a larger than life impression of the Rosetta Stone

unlocking the secrets of Ancient Egypt.

At my friend Elizabeth's suggestion,

I did some sketches first.

Can you see the elements I have decided to use?

angles, symbols, squiggles, colour....

The colours are a bit washed out here..

I was able to raid my small stash of text prints...

with script, barcoding and numbers.

And trim too!

Anyway, I am glad to have this one finished- 

it was much harder than I thought it would be!

(Although MrPnP liked it!)

Now to think about where to go next?
