I am pleased that this project turned out so cute!
I have been working on it for quite some time,
so apologies if you are sick of seeing it!
I think it was my friend Rachael who suggested,
some months ago,
that these would make a great bunting!
And boy, was she right!
The finished size of each the embroidery was 5"....
This is the process I used to make my bunting.
I roughly drew up a paper pattern....
chained pieced the frames....
1.5" strips add to three sides |
Cut 5.5 inch squares and cross cut to give me the
required triangle for the bottom section.
Cutting out the backing |
I backed each with a cherry fabric-
after all cherries are at their best during an
Australian Christmas!
Snipped out the corners before turning through...
Snipping out the corners |
I'd left the tops open for turning through....
They are hidden by the binding ties...
I left 1.5 inches between each reindeer...
Giving a very cheery and happy 70 inches of
reindeer having a Christmas party!
This is my third finish for the F-A-L!
Is it Christmas yet?
(Other details- Stitched in Perle8 thread, with some black stranded thread detail
Aunt Martha's pattern #3996
purchased from Colonial Patterns)
Happy days-

Clever! I haven't done one of my 18 projects yet! Well done you!
Fantastic finish - these will look great in your home come December. Isn't it nice to have things finished in advance? So relaxing!
Oh Suz, Those are the cutest reindeers I've ever seen!! I love the way you've made them into bunting. Who needs Christmas, have them hanging all year round!!
I'm with Rachael, cutest reindeers ever! I can't believe how much progress you're making these days.
This is such a cute project and will look lovely at Christmas. It looks lovely now too.
I have this embroidery pattern. And didn't have a clue what to do with it--what a fabulous idea!!
I just love what you've done with these! So darn cute!
Those reindeer just made me laugh out loud they have so much attitude! And I love how they look hanging outside like they are on summer holiday :-)
You're so organized to have finished this already. Seems like it went very quickly, though only you can say for sure. It's great as a bunting and will be perfect for Christmas hanging. Do you have a place in your home to put it? Your outdoor pictures are nice. Do you have a gazebo?
I love red work! This is so sweet
What's not to love about those little fellows? Nice job!
Absolutely darling! Your work is so detailed. Makes you wish that you could put them up already.
Woo hoo! What a nice project to have finished before the holiday. It's going to look amazing this Christmas.
They are gorgeous. Love the bunting, what a great way to display those cuties.
Too cute! I love these.
so super cute!!!
you've combined so many fun elements for your banner. I love the Blitzen block, what a hoot!
Oh sooooo cute! It is a fabulous idea and will be so fun in your house this Christmas!
Love the bunting and they will certainly add to the Christmas cheer. Take care.
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such a lovely comment. I am already a follower of your blog - you make some wonderful things and this reindeer bunting is no exception! xCathy

This is such a lovely finish :-) And thanks for sharing the tutorial - I think this would make a lovely baby gift too (with different embroidered designs obviously :-))
Your reindeer bunting is as sweet as can be! I love how you showed the process step by step. Great job!
Oh no... It better not be Christmas just yet. I'm enjoying the summer too much. That being said your blocks are adorable. So much fun to look at :)
Oh my, love them!!!!
I have enjoyed watching these reindeer regularly pop up on your site. They look great in the bunting. Fantastic idea.
These look brilliant, it's lovely seeing the finished product :D
Wonderful reindeer bunting! I love red and white decorations for Christmas and this looks perfect!

I am so glad it is not Christmas yet, but you will be ready with your very cute reindeer bunting
After seeing this I literally had to check the date to make sure it wasn't already winter! Fabulous project but phew, glad we're still in summer mode!
I think that I've told you already, but I'll tell you again...this is an adorable project and i think you are so clever to have it finished months ahead of time!! Now, about those pretty pictures....it sure is green for being winter there...I think that I even spied flowers!!! Yay!!
Great idea! Love the bunting banner.
They DO look great made into bunting. Too nice to only have them out for Christmas....
What a wonderful finish Susan - you will be pleased! Reminder to self, add Xmas backstitch project to list of hand work jobs to be done!
absolutely stunning...ohhh wow...I am feeling it
LOVE! And how clever of you to work ahead of time so you can just pull out that lovely bunting and hang it up, rather than frantically trying to finish something up oh, around the 20th, like I have too many years.
This year, however, I also have something ahead of the game--I finished my Christmas quilts in January and will be able to put them out on the bed this year--their first! What a lovely feeling!
I love all those cheery reindeer and love the cherry backing. Fun!
This is so darn cute!! I love this one!!
Blessings,
Susie
