Playing "Reindeer Games"!

I am pleased that this project turned out so cute!

I have been working on it for quite some time,

so apologies if you are sick of seeing it!

Adding the pieces to the ties.

I think it was my friend Rachael who suggested,

some months ago,

that these would make a great bunting!

And boy, was she right!

The finished size of each the embroidery was 5"....

This is the process I used to make my bunting.

I roughly drew up a paper pattern....

chained pieced the frames....

1.5" strips add to three sides

Cut 5.5 inch squares and cross cut to give me the

required triangle for the bottom section.

Cutting out the backing
I backed each with a cherry fabric-

after all cherries are at their best during an

Australian Christmas!

Snipped out the corners before turning through...

Snipping out the corners

And topstitched around three sides....

I'd left the tops open for turning through....

They are hidden by the binding ties...

I left 1.5 inches between each reindeer...

Giving a very cheery and happy 70 inches of

reindeer having a Christmas party!

This is my third finish for the F-A-L!

Is it Christmas yet?

(Other details- Stitched in Perle8 thread, with some black stranded thread detail

Aunt Martha's pattern #3996
purchased from Colonial Patterns)

Happy days-

SUZ

Those reindeer just made me laugh out loud they have so much attitude! And I love how they look hanging outside like they are on summer holiday :-)

You're so organized to have finished this already. Seems like it went very quickly, though only you can say for sure. It's great as a bunting and will be perfect for Christmas hanging. Do you have a place in your home to put it? Your outdoor pictures are nice. Do you have a gazebo?

After seeing this I literally had to check the date to make sure it wasn't already winter! Fabulous project but phew, glad we're still in summer mode!

I think that I've told you already, but I'll tell you again...this is an adorable project and i think you are so clever to have it finished months ahead of time!! Now, about those pretty pictures....it sure is green for being winter there...I think that I even spied flowers!!! Yay!!

LOVE! And how clever of you to work ahead of time so you can just pull out that lovely bunting and hang it up, rather than frantically trying to finish something up oh, around the 20th, like I have too many years.

This year, however, I also have something ahead of the game--I finished my Christmas quilts in January and will be able to put them out on the bed this year--their first! What a lovely feeling!

I love all those cheery reindeer and love the cherry backing. Fun!
