Sentiero

is Italian for 'pathway',

and the name of my latest quilt finish!

I began this one back in September.

It is a paper pieced pattern called Boston Pavement.

Three rounds of straight line quilting

I don't think it is any longer available,

but there are other versions around.

There are more details on this blogpost.

Anyway, I was supposed to be holidaying

in Italy in May....

Enough said?

Quilting it helped take my mind off the gloom and

doom we are all experiencing,

to varying degrees.

It was pleasantly quiet, wandering around taking

these photos too.

As I noted on Facebook, quilters have been in

training for this social isolation for years!

Here in Australia, we have not been officially

quarantined but many are choosing to stay at home.

We are teaching online, and mostly from home,

 for another week,

then some serious crafting can begin.

Plans are being hatched!

Details:
Quilt No.3 for 2020
Lifetime Quilt No. 122
 53" X 67"
Boston Pavement pattern
Foundation

Stay well friends!

This is such a pretty quilt and it’s so bright and vibrant for these gloomy times. Sorry you’re missing your holiday to Italy :(

I have been wondering what may be happening to you & your school, as Dd is off now too with her school on extended leave & working from home for some things. Love your quilt & it's photo shoot. I'm finding all this quite disturbing & am trying hard to find my sewjo. Take care & huggles.

Such a colorful quilt! It brings happiness into gloomy times for sure. I’m sorry about your trip. We were to have a baby shower for my daughter in law. She and my son were to make the 13 hour drive down to visit. She is a nurse and thought it best they not travel. I just hope that I get to see my grandson when he’s born the end of May. Otherwise staying home to sew is normal for me. I do miss lunches with friends and being able to drive to see my mom and sisters.

Beautiful finish!! Love the scrappiness of it. Sorry about your trip, at least as quilters we have a hobby to keep us occupied. Thanks for sharing

It turned out beautifully. I enjoyed seeing the blocks bit by bit as you shared but the finish is just wonderful. Stay safe and healthy.

I love the way you devote such effort to taking pictures of your finished quilts in various locations. That really shows how lovely they are. Good for another finish!!

Such a happy finish! I am blown away with how well you make that machine behave.
I love that bright binding and even the backing fabric works perfectly.

Another great quilt name! You must think long and hard while you are sewing to get such perfect titles. So many people have had travel plans disturbed... lots of 'trip of a lifetime' trips have been cancelled which is so sad.

This is a wonderful quilt! I remember when you started it, and now you've finished it up. I especially love the quilt tucked up next to the sculpture of the mother/baby.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Italy trip falling to pieces because of COVID-19. That is certainly one country you would not want to be caught in, but I'm sorry to say that I'm fearful that USA may soon turn into a situation like that, given our leadership (or lack of). I'm glad you are able to work from home--does the term end soon? Dave starts teaching his university term next week--all online, too.

That is such a beautiful quilt, Susan. Good for you for finishing up!

How lovely, Susan! I'm so glad you're still managing quilting time, and being so very productive. None of us has a reason to slack now, though I know many quilters have been stymied by the emotional aspects of this pandemic. It's so very draining, knowing that the future is uncertain. I'm glad your job allows you to teach online, and even happier for you to be on a break soon. Hopefully your school won't close indefinitely, as many are here in the US. The future doesn't seem bright. I’m so sorry about your lost May trip to Italy. It’s definitely not the place to be these days! But aren't we glad to have fabrics and skills to keep our hands occupied during self-isolation? We just need to keep up our motivation.

This is a delightful finish. Your beautiful blocks have combined so well in this quilt. Love seeing it in the outdoor settings, too. We will need more of that to come.
