My Juki has been in for a service and repair.
Events transpired to eke it out to three months!
My service centre was down a man, the part it
needed took some time to source and everything
closes down over Christmas too!
So yesterday I couldn't wait to get sewing!
I chose a square spiral following the log cabin block
layout- simple but effective.
I want to use as much of my stash as possible this
year, but often don't have WOF for binding.
So I used Linda @flourishpalms tutorial for

I still need to master the technique, but I am
pleased with the overall effect.
And the name- a Paul Kelly song I heard for the first
time today!

Lovely quilt. I would be very pleased to have a finish every three months. Seems here of late that I'm struggling, but onward.........
Yay for you, Susan! First, I'm thrilled that you finally have your Juki back. That took way too long! And second, this is a great finish. Looks like you used lots of scraps. Did you use homemade basting spray to put together your quilt sandwich? Of course, I'm most pleased that you tried my favorite binding method. I know it takes a little adjusting to get the sewn mitered corners just right. But isn't it a good way to use different binding fabrics? I'm so glad you tried it. Thanks for following my tutorial. I don't know the "Charcoal Road" song, but I'll check it out. I'm happy for you to have a finish. We know what a good feeling that is!

A lovely finish, really like the backing fabric you have used. I’ve used Linda’s no-tails method a few times now, I’m getting better at it each time.
Another beautiful quilt, but wow 3 months to have your machine back would have been torturous. Love the stripey binding. I’d not heard of this binding method, so I’ll go and pop over to Linda’s blog.

A wonderful finish. Not much you can do when your machine is away and you have no control over the timing. You have obviously made the most of having it back. I am loving the black/charcoal surrounds for the blocks. Frames then beautifully. And great choice of quilting design, too. The fun border finishes it off perfectly

The binding looks perfectly acceptable... no sign of it being a first time attempt. I always dread trying something different with binding as it is such a lot of unpicking if it doesn't go well! Well done 👍👍

I know what you mean about gaps between finishes and posts. I have refound my sewing mojo, but I still struggle to be inspired to sit by my computer.
Love this name, and love this quilt! Bummer that the Juki took so long to come back, but am glad it is back safely with you. I think your dual colors on the binding is brilliant (I may copy that sometime). Congratulations!
