on the construction of "Melbourne Town".
My embroideries are complete...
and I have my Dresden ready!
I decided to limit the palette for this one...
Using foundation piecing for accuracy...
but it was still tricky!
But it sure is pretty!
Sunrise? |
And the 'rainbow' reminded me
more of a sunset...
I appliqued this one, rather than hand piecing
the narrow strips.
It is much more stable like this!
I just have the hexies to go...
Can you guess what colour I'm making them?
Happy sewing!

Love your Sunrise...stunning colours!
Surely some blue hexies to round it all out (colourwise). Love your sunrise too - such precision piecing and great colour choices. Who says Melbourne only wears black ;)
This is going to look awesome - love your paper piecing too.
They look wonderful - great colours and wonderful piecing.
I'm thinking blue hexies will look great, I can't wait to see the completed quilt, (no pressure) it is really looking stunning.
It's all looking super duper fantabulous!! I'm trying to guess what colour the hexies will be but I can't , I do know they'll be just the most perfect colour or colours because your choices are always spot on.
Wow! Those arcs are so teeny! There is so much to look at with this quilt. And your embroidery adds the perfect patchnplay touch!
Melbourne Town is wonderful..great job...I love it
I'm going with lime green. Your quilt is looking fabulous!
It's all coming together beautifully! There will be a lot to look back at and admire in this quilt. I especially like those touches of embroidery. Can't wait to see the hexies!
A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E.! I can't guess what color you have in mind for the hexies, but you are on a roll, girl, so I know it will look fabulous. I like how you are giving hints as to your method of construction, too.
The paper piecing looks fantastic! I really like the neutral background with the embroidery. Can't wait to see the hexies, maybe blue ones or pink?
Oh, what glorious colours! Love, love, love it, Suz. Gorgeous and inspiring.
Absolutely gorgeous. Love the colours and fabrics you've used. I can't guess what colours the hexies will be, blue maybe, but whatever you do, it will be perfect.
Love your embroidered details - this is going to be amazing!
Like you, I'm finding that it's better to look ahead on the project, and see what to work on that requires a bit more effort. Your Dresdens, FPP, and appliqué sunset are so well done! And I very much appreciate seeing them in advance, as it gives me more time to reflect on what I want to do with my own. Currently, I'm embroidering. Have completed my golf cart design, and am working on a palm tree. Next I'd like to do a lighthouse (there's one near our little lake), but may find it difficult to come up with a design that looks like ours. Thanks for sharing as you move ahead on your MSW. It's really helpful to me. And mostly, it's just lovely!
Love the way this one is progressing and admiring your patience with all the small pieces.
I ,ove everything about this Susan. So cute with all your little touches. Enjoy the process
so intriguing! Very pretty.
This is so very pretty! I'm a little nervous about all the applique--probably will do fusible raw edge. I love all the personal touches.
Beautiful work and the choice of colours is just perfect. You're obviously having fun with it all too, even if it is a little tricky at times! xCathy
I would have used the same methods on these sections too. I love the warm rainbow/sunburst. Pretty!
