Playing "Reindeer Games"!

I am pleased that this project turned out so cute!

I have been working on it for quite some time,

so apologies if you are sick of seeing it!

Adding the pieces to the ties.

I think it was my friend Rachael who suggested,

some months ago,

that these would make a great bunting!

And boy, was she right!

The finished size of each the embroidery was 5"....

This is the process I used to make my bunting.

I roughly drew up a paper pattern....

chained pieced the frames....

1.5" strips add to three sides

Cut 5.5 inch squares and cross cut to give me the

required triangle for the bottom section.

Cutting out the backing
I backed each with a cherry fabric-

after all cherries are at their best during an

Australian Christmas!

Snipped out the corners before turning through...

Snipping out the corners

And topstitched around three sides....

I'd left the tops open for turning through....

They are hidden by the binding ties...

I left 1.5 inches between each reindeer...

Giving a very cheery and happy 70 inches of

reindeer having a Christmas party!

This is my third finish for the F-A-L!

Is it Christmas yet?

(Other details- Stitched in Perle8 thread, with some black stranded thread detail

Aunt Martha's pattern #3996
purchased from Colonial Patterns)

Happy days-

It's finished!

I am very proud to share my "Birds of a Feather"

quilt with you today!

With fewer diagonal lines....
Most of the blocks came from my delightful friends

in the Mid-Century Modern Bee!

I hope I have done justice to their beautiful feathers?

I find the quilting part the most stressful....

(Not knowing whether my quilting is good enough or if I have done enough?)

I quilted with 40 weight Aurifil in

a lovely silvery grey colour (#2615)

with lots of randomly spaced straight(ish)

diagonal lines...

with some 'arrows' echoing the feather points

at one end...

In this photo you might be able to see the variation in background fabrics I used...

and the other...

I chose a scrappy orange and turquoise binding....

It finishes at about 60" square.

Here's the back with it's siggy blocks...

I do have a few more photos to share....

the obligatory 'rolled up' quilt!

hanging on a fence...

and lounging on a seat!

And, by the way, I love it!

(This is my second finish for this quarter
of the F-A-L!)

Happy sewing!

Random Ramble...

I have been trying to walk 10,000 steps every day....

Most days that is achievable,

except when the Winter rains come!

The Yarra is certainly muddy after recent rain!
So here are some of the views

as I rambled in the last week or so....
A newly painted mural - better than advertising!
Just as well this cute gift shop was closed when I passed!

And all those kilometres deserve a reward,

don't they?

Fabric, of course!

Stash building- from "Sewn and Quilted"

I will have a finish to share very soon....

Happy days!

Building Blocks...

The City Sampler quilt continues to grow....

I have begun building blocks with triangles...

And I have added some solids

for a little more variation.

Thirty blocks made,

Forty to go!

Happy sewing!

WiPs Wednesday...rather late!

I have made some progress on my

"Birds of A Feather" quilt!

The backing is pieced....

The siggy blocks have been placed to reflect

the placement of the feathers on the front of the quilt!

The blank spaces are for my details-

I pieced three feathers of my own!

The other blank space is for Carla- she made two!

And the scrappy binding is made too!

My Christmas Reindeer are nearly finished...

In fact, I have only one more to go!

Finally I did have a chance to play with

my new fabric!

And it does play together so nicely!

Happy sewing!
