Oh Christmas Tree I love you!

I love everything about this quilt!

I wonder if that has to do with the relative ease it 

came together!

Yes it was a lot of work, but I had no real problems 

with it from start to finish...

Well, maybe these were a challenge- I don't do wonky!

Even the machine quilting, which initially I thought 

was horrid, 

seemed to relax, with the stitches meshing into the 

background.

Hand quilting at Christmas 2016

After making over 80 quilts, I always struggle with 

finishing the binding.

This time I used this tutorial - I did it the first time, 

and got a perfect finish!

I remembered to prepare and add the label while

attaching the binding.

I did stars in amongst the swirly quilting

Ok, enough of the teasing progress shots....

Here it is...

Mr PnP obligingly helped with the photo shoot today!

These photos were taken outside the school I work at...

I couldn't find any Christmas trees for a back drop, 

so these topiaries will have to do...

Now I just need to think about whether I store this 

away til December, 

or display it somewhere to look at everyday!

A Bee for the Queen Bee!

Rachel is the Queen of May-

well, Queen Bee of our Gridster Bee for May!

As she is away for much of May, she released her block early!

It is foundation paper pieced 

from the Piece by Number website...

so I made a sample block first!

It will be 6" finished.

But Rachel wanted hers to be 10" with a purple 

background...

I found the perfect fabric in my stash with bees on it!

Here are the two blocks together....

I still need to embroider the antennae on Rachel's 

block!

I am making an extra block for each month of the bee,

 to make my own sampler quilt...

I'm loving this so far,

and am looking forward to seeing the future bee 

block choices!

Pulling out a WIP!

I decided it was time I pulled out my 

New York Beauty blocks

One of the new ones is here....

and add to them!

While they do take some time....

they are very satisfying to make!

playing with the fabric combinations!

I do love how they look together!

They are only 8" finished, so it won't be a large 

quilt...

I am now thinking about how I might sash them,

which may involve flying geese.

I think they need some breathing space!

Show and Tell!

I am back from my little beach getaway...

where we did lots of walking,

and people watching!

This is what I managed to sew, hand stitching in the 

evenings.

My first Delilah block!

With another one cut out ready to stitch.

Amitie is moving soon so I decided I needed to take 

some fabric off their hands...

for Delilah, of course!

and the batting is going to be used soon for my 

"Chucky's In Love" quilt,

Five metres of Lizzie House, "Castle Peeps"

because I found a fabulous fabric for the backing!

This is my first block for the Gridster Bee...

designed by Nancy herself!

With fabric cut and ready for the next...

Plenty to keep me busy!

Inspiration!

While not there has not been much sewing happening here at Patchwork n Play....

more work than play really!

There is still inspiration and planning going on!

I found this scrap amongst some fabrics I had 

forgotten about...

and decided that was the perfect colour palette for 

my newest 'start' - the Delilah pattern...

The book, on the left,  I recently won!

So I had great fun pulling these from my stash.

And I had a credit at my local fabric store....

so these cost me the princely sum of $5!

I'll be hand piecing the Delilah blocks for this 

month....

the perfect project to take on my little beach sojourn!
