Randomly Thursday

A still morning in Melbourne brings out the hot air

balloons…

Apparently this one landed some ten minutes after I

left for work this morning!

My sister couldn't join me for my birthday,

but she sent me a photo of my partly prepared

'birthday cake'---

An apple cake in the making!
This is as far as she got-

Helen has such a great sense of humour!

 I also received wonderful cards,

Love those workers pumping up the sultanas to make them into grapes!

and a very special needle case from Mary!

I made a little something (a mug rug or trivet?)

 this week…

How cute is Mr Frog in his pool of blue?

How is your week going?

Happy days!

The Best Swap Ever!

I struck the jackpot when I joined up for the Mouthy Stitches Swap over on

Flick'r!

Susan, Hadley and Cindy were the amazing, organizing Mamas....

and Susan was my partner!

Look at this beautiful pouch!

With all my favourite things like bikes, Heather Ross fabric, embroidery, linen....

and not one, but 2, yes 2 Kombi vans!!!

And my name!

and great quilting!

Isn't it perfect?

And if that wasn't enough....

a fabulous needle book and pin cushion!

And a rainbow of scrappy strips....

all waiting to be turned into something wonderful!

Can you tell I love my 'treasure'?

And one last thing.....

It's not too late to vote for my little Christmas Mug Rug over @ Ellison Lane!

Modern Mini Challenge

To celebrate making the final of this fantastic contest, I'll be having a giveaway

soon!

Happy days!

From my Library....

I have added to my craft library recently...

I don't buy books...

except craft books, of course!

They are full of inspiration and pretty pictures!

This one particularly indulges my love for pink.

(I think, because I only had sons...)

I love this needlecase with its embroidered flowers...

And the instructions look to be fairly clear...

And these two books arrived from Amazon during the week....

With the strong Aussie dollar I couldn't resist either of them!

I am a little late to the Suzuko Koseki craze....

but love the designs and quirky photos in this book!

And finally "The Quilt Revival" as recommended by Lynne of Lily's Quilts

I love the concept behind this book..

tile quilts based on applique.

Now, I am not a fan of traditional needleturn applique, but this book assures me that

machine or fusible with blanket stitch applique is quite acceptable!

And I love the section on auditioning fabrics....

So, with so much inspiration, what will I choose to work on next?

What are you working on at the moment?

And what is your inspiration?

Happy sewing

The Bees Knees!

The needlecase I made

The Quilting Gallery organised a Swap

They gave participants the pattern and instructions and the name of our recipient.

Mine went all the way to Christine in Wisconsin, USA.

I attached a sweet little silver charm of a bee, which I bought on my recent trip to Paris.

I hope Chris enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Needlecase I received

The needlecase that arrived for me, yesterday, came from Charlotte in Washington State, USA.

Mine is covered with BEES!

A bit of a coincidence, don't you think?

The colours are really vibrant!

And she kindly included a mini version to which she attached a key ring!

Too cute!

So to my two new internet and quilting friends-

Have a happy day!
