Sanctuary...

my first finish for 2018!

Once I had decided how I wanted to quilt this....

and knew I had the skill to achieve it,

                    there was no stopping me,

doing the bulk of the quilting on a 42C day!

I found a Jacquie Gering YouTube video online that

gave me the confidence to go for it!

It's a wavy line created with my walking foot.

I made a 'matched' binding, following Debbie's

tutorial here.

I made a label from a scrap of the backing,

cutting out a window, turning back the edges and

stitching in a plain piece of fabric.

Here's the texture on the back...

a vintage sheet,

a sneaky contrast to the modern front.

It finishes at about 60" square....

and going to live with a dear friend who, I hope, will

find much comfort from it.

Happy sewing!

Blocks....

I made two for my MCM bee quilt.

There are now twelve, with two more at the mercy

of Australia Post!

And gift boxes....

for another little Christmas quilt I decided I needed

to make!

Looks like I need to update my WIPs list...

Happy days!

Yoo-hoo!!!

Yes, it's me!

This is what has kept me busy...

Margaret Court Arena

No, not playing tennis but acting as patron services

for the Australian Open.

I have seen very little of Miss Juki these last few

days....

She has had her yearly holiday service,

and helped me put this together-

The five siggy blocks from my

MCM Bee buddies have

formed part of the backing for my

Modern Amish quilt.

I intend to write the names of the other

block makers

in lighter coloured sections of the star block.

I'll be back on the weekend with my first

"Four-in-Art" mini quilt.

Have I bitten off more than I can chew?

Modern Amish...

That's the working title for my 2014 MCM Bee quilt!

I now have twelve blocks, with this latest addition....

my Dusty Miller block!

I love making this block and I love the way it comes

together...

There is something very satisfying about making a

block of your own design!

And here it is partying with it's bee friends!

Thank you bee buddies,

they look SO good together!

And this where they are headed....

That big black centre is going to become

a feathered star, I think.

That's my plan, anyway!

Who knows what I will decide over the coming

Summer months?

Happy sewing!
