Whittaker!

I enjoyed EVERY minute of making this pinafore!

While the pattern was pricey, the fabric was free!

So no complaints there!

The instructions are clear and detailed.

The tailoring details were time-consuming but very

enjoyable to achieve.

It was great to focus and concentrate on new skills.

I had hoped to use my Juki's twin needle but due to

lockdown, couldn't leave the house to shop for thread.

                                    Or buttons!

So eventually I found these cool hand made Liberty

ones.

Maybe they don't exactly match the lining but I'm ok

with that!

You get a better idea of the finishing details here....

I am really looking forward to breaking out and

wearing this!

Until then, these photos will need to suffice!

Happy sewing!

Blocked!

I have been piecing some individual blocks

this week....

Pattern testing this "Star Gazing" block

 for Gemma at Pretty Bobbins!

I think it might become a cushion cover?

These heart blocks are from "Quilt Lovely",

which may become a quilt?

and my bee block, paper pieced, for Stephanie-

our Queen for April in the MCM Bee.

I picked up this bargain at a country op shop

last week...

nearly three metres of backing for $6!

(Just need to buy some matching thread and

I can start quilting the "Pacific Lime" quilt.)

And finally all these buttons sent by Cindy,

as a souvenir of QuiltCon!

Thank you quilty friends, I love these!

Tuesday Treasure - Vintage Buttons

I love vintage buttons!

This collection I mainly inherited from my mother...

This beauty is about one and a half inches across...

And it looks like its made from glass!

I'm lucky to have two of them !

And I have at least 3 of these lovelies!

The two white ones pictured here I picked up from a second hand store recently!

A pretty flower and a basket weave- fab!

And this one would have adorned my father's uniform when he worked on the

Victorian Railways back in the 40's, I think!

You can just about make out the VR!

And a buckle from my school uniform back in the 60's!

Mum made all our clothes in those days!

(She even made my wedding dress nearly 30 years ago!)

And a few more of interest-

Which ones do you like? I'd love to know!

Linking up with Melody's Tuesday Treasures too!

Happy sewing!

Summer Can't Be Far Away, can it?

Life has been very busy this week with very little sewing done.

So I thought I would share an oldie, but a goodie

This pattern is called "I Love Summer".

I purchased this from a Bendigo patchwork store over seven years ago.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this quilt and all the techniques I used.

Yo- Yos and buttons

Blanket, stem and chain stitch.

Pretty fabrics.

Cute buttons.

Strawberries....

and cherries...

and honey....

and flowers!

Yes, I do love summer!

Don't you!
