A Flurry of Finishes.....

Despite some sluggishness on my behalf, I do have my

last two quilt finishes for the year!

While the weather has been sunny, it is also windy, so

photo opportunities are few and far between.

I chose to quilt in gently wavy lines, like a rain in a

rainforest.

I think Tommy Toucan is my favourite!

And the backing with its simple leaf shape was perfect!

I am confident that this will be well received by

Finnley's mum, come Christmas Day.

Quilt # 11 for 2021

"Finnley's Rainforest Friends"

Lifetime Quilts #140

Peppermint Parade looked so nice on the chair as I left

it to be finished the other night....

And here it is on my bed.

It finishes at 78" square, so not even having one

agreeable quilt holder would be enough to show it off

any other way.

I started this back in January, and only finished

yesterday....

It was a wonderful distraction from the trials of 2021!

I found this striped fabric in my local quilt shop on sale,

and decided it would be perfect for bias binding.

I really enjoyed the process, and followed this tutorial

on YouTube as a reminder of how it's done.

I love that 60 cm (24") of fabric makes over 820 cm

(320") of binding

Quilt # 12 for 2021

"Peppermint Parade"

Lifetime Quilts #141

I probably won't be posting again before Santa comes down the chimney, so may your Christmas be filled with joy and peace.

Happy sewing!

These are great quilts. I especially like the bed quilt with a great colour palette and different blocks, it’s such a happy quilt.

Both quilts are absolutely gorgeous !!!

The wavy lines are a perfect quilting choice on the first one, and the hand quilting on Peppermint Parade is so lovely. I really enjoy seeing other quilters who enjoy handquilting.

You sure do know how to end the year with a bang! Two wonderful finishes.
Finnley's quilt is so adorable. That is really special.
And your Peppermint Parade is wonderful. Great colours and fabrics all the way through. I hope you keep that one out on display as much as possible. Love the fabric you found for the binding. That could be used in lots of quilts - it is so versatile.
Enjoy your Christmas festivities and we'll see what we all get up to next year!

Two great finishes Susan! I do love the animal quilt, makes me smile! And your 'peppermint parade' is stunning, looks amazing on the bed. A great way to finish off the year! Merry Christmas and happy holidays.

Oh, your Peppermint Parade is lovely! I've not been doing anything lately, otherwise occupied. Merry Christmas

Both of these quilts turned out so pretty! Though your bed quilt, Peppermint Parade, is my favorite. It has sort of a Jen Kingwell look to it. The binding you chose is a perfect addition to the visual excitement across the quilt. It seems you've accomplished a lot during this trying year, and I admire you for hanging in there. Looks like the Omicron variant will present our next wave of challenges. I read that when you speak 2022, you're really saying 2020-too, like it's all on repeat. Of course, we hope not, but... I'm thinking of you during this blessed season, and wishing you and those you love a holy and peaceful Christmas. Hugs.

So nice to see this all laid out on the bed--all your beautiful piecing and quilting displayed to its best advantage. I love your work--and have lots to learn about being braver and mixing up things. Clever to use the striped binding: it finishes it off nicely.

Your animals all turned out so well--you obviously have the patience of Job to tackle one of those pieced quilts. I also like the toucan the best. :)
