As we begin to open up after our eleven week
lockdown,
there is still some nervousness about how life will look
in the near future.
It is wonderful to see people enjoying our new-found
freedoms-
Getting a haircut and new glasses were high on my
priority list!
green!
I finished this dress a while back.
This is the "Emerson" Stylearc pattern, which I altered
slightly, by not having it button all the way through.
I also had a little trouble with the Mandarin collar so I
just bound the edge, as I would a quilt!
I finally decided to begin a new quilt, by sorting through
my scraps, yet again!
These are 16-patch blocks made from 2 and 1/2"
squares.
This is the quilt I am using as inspiration.....
white solid fabric.
While not all retail is open, many innovative businesses
are able to set up shop on the footpath outside.
All this will change on Friday when we will have 80% of
our 16+ population vaccinated,
allowing regional travel and retail/entertainment to reopen!
Here we are in Vietnam, New Zealand, France and Melbourne! |
anniversary!
So there is some cause for celebration.
Unfortunately our plans for a meal in a restaurant together, for the first time in who-knows-when have been scarpered......
by a malfunction in the kitchen of our chosen
restaurant!
Life certainly is looking a little different from last week, from last year AND from 1981!
😄
Happy days!

Congratulations on the wedding anniversary - that is quite the achievement. Hopefully you get to wear the dress out for dinner another night. I don't know how the post lockdown state of normal is going to look but I am looking forward to the end of maskwearing!
Happy anniversary.x
I think I heard my tin of two-inch squares shouting out as I scrolled through your post. Happy anniversary! Such nice pictures for celebration too.
Happy Happy 40th Anniversary to you and your hubby. Wishing you well as you come out of lockdown. Enjoy your new found freedoms. How have businesses managed to stay alive?
Enjoy the freedom and glad you got to the hairdressers and have your new specs. I had to get some earlier this year to having them come off numerous times due to our mask wearing & eventually the lens falling out. Using our scraps has definitely been the "thing" this year. We are still very, very cautious, but are hoping this was the last of the lockdowns. At least we should be able to see DD and family next week & our 2 boys in the coming months interstate, but not sure about when we'll get to UK to see our other DD. Take care, stay safe & hugs.
Happy Anniversary! I envy you living in such a sensible country with near 80% vaccination.
Happy anniversary! Hopefully you get to enjoy a dinner out, somewhere soon. Love your new dress too. That fabric is so pretty for spring.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! You are so fortunate that so many of your citizens are vaccinated. So many of the folks here in the States just won't do it and it keeps this horrid virus running around the country. I hope you and our countrymen will be enjoying some sense of normalcy very soon. I like that little inspiration quilt, too.
Wow, congratulations to you both. Forty years is wonderful! That is very special! Love the photo collection.
And topped off with new glasses and a haircut. That is also very special.
I have to wait a couple more days for my haircut but am happy to have an appointment.
Our lovely weather has been perfect for your new dress. Isn't the sunshine lovely?
Happy anniversary. I love the green glasses too. Enjoy the new freedoms.
Hallelujah! Congratulations on surviving lockdown and for being able to leave it behind. We still keep ourselves pretty confined to our home; our county’s vaccination rate is really lagging far behind yours. Maybe if we had an onerous lockdown like the one you’ve just experienced, more would line up to get their vaccine? We just had our booster a couple of days ago, so are also looking forward to taking a little trip (but it will still be domestic—USA only). I love those closing photos of your two—Happy Anniversary!!
P.S. Love those glasses!
