Playing Catch-up!

Life has been hectic, but we have moved and are

happily enjoying rural life!

A "cut leaf" Banksia in my garden

So there has been little sewing but lots to celebrate!

My sewing room is waiting for me.

It is much smaller than I'm used to but I'm okay with

that!

My AFL (Australian rules) football team won the Grand

Final.

The tulips are blooming in Bendigo...

Today I intend to play with these doily and fabric scraps.

There is a destash market coming up and I thought someone might be interested in a drawstring bag, or two!

Happy days!

A Turret Obsession!

I will be moving soon...

From bayside to rural!

No, this is not our house....

Not our house.

or this!

One thing that I noticed when we moved 'bayside'

was how the architecture was so different

from what I had been used to.....

Can you tell what caught my eye?

Turrets!

A modern take on a turret!

Turrets seemed to adorn many of the houses

in the neighbourhood.

A turret, according to the online Oxford dictionary is

"a small tower on top of a larger tower or at the corner of a building or wall, typically of a castle."

Well, there are no castles, but some are pretty

spectacular!

I became a bit obsessed with finding just one more....

sometimes going for a detour on my way home from

somewhere....

in the hope of finding another!

Some were hard to see and photograph....

hidden high behind fences and vegetation.

And others humbly sit atop modest

homes, for all to admire!

Trust me, these are all different!

I think I will miss these....

I wonder if there are any more out there I didn't find?

Oh, this is our new house.......

We move in this week!

Happy days

New Brighton Gardens

 a quilt finish!

I thoroughly enjoyed making this quilt,

joining Elizabeth @OPQ in her free sew-along!

I started this back in January, not long after we moved

to our temporary home at the beach.

And it is finished just as our time here winds up!

I've quilted it in Perle 8 thread, appropriately using a

reel of Superior threads

that Elizabeth sent me eons ago!

I guess it was waiting for this quilt all the time!

Then I raided my depleting stash of threads,

using a DMC in purple and finally some Aurifil hot pink.

I pieced the backing from fabric I had in my stash,

and bound it in an orange print bought specially for this

quilt.

I was organised enough to make the label before I

bound the quilt so it is firmly attached to the back!

It is windy here in Brighton today, and rain is on its way.

So just some quick shots outside....

with this one to leave you with!

Faded Love

......my Ditsy Doileys quilt is now finished.

And it also has a new name,

which suits it much better!

There is this pretty painted wall nearby so we headed

there this morning before it got to windy....

You can see a little of the backing fabric, pieced from

leftover pieces of sheets I have previously used.

I machine quilted around each square , first in the floral

borders and also in the plain ones.

I then added some hand quilting, using a variety of

threads .....

The winter sunshine played pretty shadows across it as

I stitched!

Of course it was appropriate to use a doily as a label!

"Faded Love" finishes at about 60" by 70"

Happy days!
