It's hard to believe that this day has come!
The final reveal of our + and x friendship block quilt!
This was the palette Carla and I based our quilts on....
And I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!
Here it is before I quilted it....
four blocks joined and sashed in an aqua spot
with brown corner "+s"...
Putting it together wasn't without it's problems....

Keeping it real.... |
That's a broken needle AND a pin in there!
I chose a wavy quilting line from the many 'patterns'
offered by my machine....
And I 'marked' diagonal lines with my Hera marker,
two inches apart,
keeping this line centred as I stitched with my
walking foot....
I found a bargain backing at Darn Cheap fabrics....
Cuckoo Clocks from the "Folktale" range,
by Cinderberry Stitches in orange!
This was such a fun fabric,
perfect for a fun experience!
There are so many special parts in this quilt....
Carla and I even exchanged labels!
The binding is called "Alphabet Soup" by Henry Glass
My quilt finishes at about 68" by 75"
Be sure you pop over and see
what a beautiful quilt Carla has made
from our fun block sharing experience!
Happy sewing!
SUZ
Oh wow, Suz, this has turned out so well! All the colour is just fabulous - I love the aqua sashing and the brown centre pluses ...I would never have thought to use brown but it is perfect. Have you had the Juki long? I don't recall seeing it before (but then again my memory ain't what it used to be). Hanging out to see what Carla's looks like!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! It's so beautiful - such a great use of color. Absolutely lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe colours are fabulous - especially the aqua spot sashing!

It's so fun Susan! I really like how you set it with the turquoise sashing. What a fabulous finish : )
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it so much with the aqua sashings and brown crosses. What fun we have had!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun, colorful quilt Susan!!! I love your layout with the sashing and "+"s around four pieced blocks. What a great quilt pieced with the help of a good friend!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! This is so cheery and fun! And I love you 4 are all reveling today!!

These colors are dreamy! I really like this and the backing was a great choice.
ReplyDeleteHi Suz! Oh, this is so beautiful! I love your way to use the blocks and to make the sashing! x Teje
ReplyDeleteAh! It's GORGEOUS! I love it. Great job.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous setting!! I love the sashing idea and the border. This has been such a wonderful experience. I'm ready for another swap with friends. :)
ReplyDeleteSuz, your quilt looks wonderful!!! I really like the way you added sashing and the brown crosses as the cornerstnes. The binding is the perfect choice and the backing is fun. You must have gotten used to swapping blocks with Carla, are you tempted to start a new swap quilt?
ReplyDeleteI love the way you grouped them in 4s and the sashing... and the backing... oh to die for!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how the same blocks can create two such different, but equally wonderful, quilts? I had to go back and check that you hadn't cheated and used a different selection! I really like the way you have set your blocks - again, an area where a different fabric choice would have changed the look of the quilt so much - like a low volume text... if you ever decide to make this quilt again :o). But that aqua sashing... wonderfully fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! To see all your work finished! I love how you and Carla have the same blocks, but just by changing the layout (in your case, adding the sashing and crosses) each quilt is unique.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, wonderful! How clever you are to sash it with the aqua and with those brown cross-shaped cornerstones. It makes a whole other pattern through your quilt--so successful.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt!

Even better than I imagined! And the dotty sashing is just perfect. I've enjoyed every reveal of this quilt and its origins.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful quilt, and I love the colour palette you went with. I also love the contrast of the aqua sashing with the orange backing. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt you should be really pleased with it.
ReplyDeleteYou and Carla have been so imaginative with how you've put your quilts together. They're both fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid mine isn't finished yet. It's been a fun swap.
I love both your quilts - such gorgeous colours and fun to see how the same blocks can be brought together to make a different visual impression.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic finish from both of you. You quilt looks great and the quilting is lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to put those little brown crosses in - it really makes an impact. It looks so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great quilt! Your colors are lively and fun and the backing is equally fun! This quilt block is on my bucket list. I will pop over to see Carla's finish! Great job!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I love the sashing too. Your swap was so successful!
ReplyDeleteLove it Suz!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty! All the X and + quilts are just gorgeous, and all so very different. Love your orange quilting thread and binding!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt - I especially love the dots you have used in your borders! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove it!! I really like the sashing between the groups of four and how it adds an extra cross. You have to look hard to see that it's not just part of a block. And the color palette you two used is very good.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful! I love the color palette you chose and the aqua sashing. Where can I find the pattern for this block?
ReplyDeleteyour quilt is beautiful........I like it............
ReplyDeleteStunning Suz, reminds me of my summer of love quilt. xx
