I have had this pattern in my stash for over three
years now!
years now!
It was a Block of the Month by Brigitte @Zen Chic
And a state of lockdown means no shopping except
for groceries and medical supplies.
for groceries and medical supplies.
So, I did some stash diving and got cutting!
I chose to cut the twenty rectangles first.
Then the blocks.
They are 6” and 12” blocks so all pretty
straightforward, except the pattern is in German.
straightforward, except the pattern is in German.
But there are good diagrams so nothing I couldn’t
figure out.
Strangely I never found out the official name for it.
So while I sew masks I'll be contemplating what I
should call it.
should call it.
Any ideas???
I recently gifted one of my quilts and received both
a delicious box of chocolates and this photo as a
thank you.
Happy sewing!

Hello Suz,
ReplyDeletethis will become a very nice quilt.
If you need any translation from the German just let me know.
Happy sewing and have a nice weekend.

Really like the colors that you pulled and will be a great quilt....funny how we don't need the directions, just a picture will do. I also am finishing up more masks and seems like a normal thing to make a few every few weeks or so. Great baby quilt and seems like a happy little one!
ReplyDeleteI really like that quilt. Your finish is sure to be lovely in any language. You could name it Solider Garten (solid garden). Deanna at WeddingDressBlue
ReplyDeleteThis turned out beautifully!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen this quilt before but love the strong graphic modern look it creates. Great example of modern traditional. Will look wonderful in your chosen palette. Sweet baby quilt and photo too. Stay safe and stay busy.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a great quilt. I am pleased the diagrams were well done so you could follow. It is interesting to see that we always seem to have enough in our stash to do these things.
ReplyDeleteNo idea for a name. Just call it Zen Chic while working on it and maybe something will come to you.
Lovely to see your quilts being appreciated AND acknowledged.
How wonderful to be making a Zen Chic pattern! I love everything about Brigette's patterns, and you'll be a whiz at block sewing. I'm still mask-making too. Sigh. I'm using a different pattern, though. One by Orange Dot Quilts. What I haven't yet tried is making mask ties from t-shirt knit fabric. Seems that would be easier than guessing at the length of elastic needed. How nice that you got a picture of baby Oscar on one of your quilts! In the past year I've gotten pictures of two different babies on two different quilts... but in both cases, the parents wouldn't allow me share them on my blog, even without names. It's very disappointing.
ReplyDeleteI love Brigitte's patterns, they have a strong modern look to them. Maybe call the quilt Positivity or Absolutely, Positively. Young Oscar looks very happy with his quilt, so nice to know that your work has been appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I wold have enough solids in my stash to do this without a major shopping spree, hope your lockdown is going well.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great to see your quilt gifts being used? Just the best feeling. I love the solids quilt... and can see why you have been keeping it safe for so long! No ideas for a name yet, but words that come to mind are Puzzle and Solid (obviously 😂). I'm sure you'll come up with a perfect name.
ReplyDeleteyou did well in the stash dive......nice blocks......lovely to see a quilt being used so quickly.....
