I spent a very pleasant Sunday stitching up this cute
fox corduroy....
into a sweet skirt....
for my sister.
The foxy gal! |
It is a simple six gore A-line pattern,
(Simplicity #5914,
which now seems to go by the #1560)
that comes together very quickly!
I'd love to make another one for myself!

Happy sewing!

I definitely think you deserve one as well!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's a lovely skirt! You definitely have to make one for yourself as well! I usually don't sew my own cloth - I love to go shopping instead :-) Combined with a good lunch and a glass of wine and a chat with a friend... :-)
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I'll bet she loved it.
ReplyDeleteThis is darling--and fun to sew something for your sister! She looks very cute in your handiwork.
ReplyDeleteSo darned sweet! That fabric is neat, and she looks good in it! I'm sure she appreciates your talent. No such relationship with my own sister. I love to sew garments, and really... for many years I sewed way more clothes than I did quilts. While I still make a few things for myself - tops and skirts - the only other garment sewing I do is make shorts for our four growing little grandsons. I'm glad for you that you could sew for your sister.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great pattern, very flattering, and the fabric is too cute! You better make yourself one now :) I have a stack of fabric set aside for making a few summer tops. I learned how to sew clothes before quilts. Still fun to make something for myself once in a while.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely fabric, although I couldn't see the foxes at first, all I could see was clamshells :) Yes, you should definitely make another one for yourself.
ReplyDeletevery cute skirt. I wish I looked good in skirts. I am too short waisted. They cut me in half!
ReplyDeleteThat looks wonderful Susan. I used to sew clothes for my children and myself but then quilting got in the way. I do have a few fabrics and patterns I'd like to sew up - one day ... I hope you make a skirt for yourself.
ReplyDeleteCute fabric. Lovely skirt. Lucky sister.
ReplyDeleteI used to make my own clothes in the days when it was cheaper to make something than it was to buy it. I'm not sure that is true now - but I still make things for the grandchildren! I'd love to do more - but it seems there are only 24 hours in the day ... Lynne.
ReplyDeleteThat's odd - part of my comment went missing! I also said how much I liked the skirt and the fox fabric!
ReplyDeleteVery cute!
ReplyDeleteCool skirt -hoping I may get to make a winter skirt in the holidays - one week to go, yay.
ReplyDeleteYour sister has a rather funky haircut too, from what I can see.
Those cute foxes make such a lovely skirt - love the feel of corduroy too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun skirt!! It's fun to see a photo of your sister. I've made clothes a few times but I never enjoy it like I enjoy making quilts. It's a shame because I have a whole shelf of fabrics I've bought for making skirts lol.
ReplyDeleteThis skirt is simply begging for a foxy lady Kath and Kim comment, but I will resist the temptation. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is very cute. I would wear it.
