I went to a dry needle felting class on the weekend!
Who could have guessed that this fluffy pile of
Corriedale wool and a barbed felting needle....
could be turned into these!

This is the needle used to stab, yes stab the
rolled up wool shape,
until the fibres matt and felt together!
Here are more 'models' and some of the parts ready
to be put together!

It was great fun, if a little dangerous!
Those barbs are sharp if you talk more than watch...
Here's my Snoopy!
Not bad for my first effort although I think his legs
could be fattened up a wee bit!
And I will leave you with a group shot....
each with their own little personality!

I'm going to borrow a book from my library,
search You-Tube,
learn a few more techniques,
and maybe try another one!

Oh, these are so funny and such a joy! Love yours! I was less lucky - I didn't went to a class for my first one - just got some wool and needles and tried all by myself. I managed to break 7 )!) needles on my first little project and the painful fingers for days! But the fun was great! Enjoy your journey, it is great!

ReplyDeleteI don't know Suz, that needle looks really sharp and I quite like my fingertips where they are at the moment! I might just put in an order with you if I need something! You seem to have figured it out very quickly -- how on earth did you make those little ears without stabbing yourself??

ReplyDeleteI have played around with this and I felt it looks easier than it is. It's tough to get those shapes to look like something! Your pup is fantastic! I think you need to felt a dog house now! Lol!
ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of dry needle felting. It does look like fun with many possibilities. Each one those little dogs certainly has personality of its own.
ReplyDeleteThey are so cute! I daren't show my sons or they will want some. It must have been a fun class. Now if I see Needle felting classes advertised I might go. I never imagined you could make these types of things with it.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! When Mark and I were vending at quilting shows, a couple of times we were next to a booth called Bird Brain Designs, and the owners were do needle felting. It was fascinating to watch.

ReplyDeleteI cannot guess which one the teacher made. They all look good. My dog would be easy to make - just add eyes and a nose to the fluffy pile of wool. She already looks like a lamb.
