The start of a beautiful friendship!

Even though May signals

the end of Autumn here

This month's colours are reminiscent Australian Autumn leaves
It is also the end of the

+ and x Friendship block swap.....

So let the quilt construction begin!

Here are the blocks I sent to Carla....

in the rich colours of red, orange and brown.

And here are the beauties I received from Carla!

And here they are 'getting acquainted'!

Carla and I are intending to work independently on

our quilt layout,

with a final reveal at the end of September!

It will be fun to see our 'fraternal' quilts...

Happy days!

WIPs Wednesday...

I can't remember the last time I wrote a WIP's post!

(In fact it has been a whole two weeks

since I last posted at all!)

So this is what I have been up to

(despite masses of end-of-semester schoolwork!)

MCM bee blocks are 'winging' their way to Carla....

+ and x Friendship blocks for the other Carla....

Just a sneaky peek....
hand quilting a secret project....

which I hope to share soon!

And hand quilting this long term project too.

My Museum Medallion

AND I may have just started a new quilt!

Shelburne Falls by Denyse Schmidt...

gifted to me in 2013 by my friend Mary!

Before long June will be here.....

Linking up with Lee @ Freshly Pieced!

Happy sewing!

I didn't want to finish...

Do you ever make a quilt and

not want to be finished with it?

Machine quilted but not bound...

That's how I felt about my Scrappy Sandwiches!

I had machine quilted with twin lines

on either side of the white strip

AND bound it.

when I decided it needed,

and I wanted to...

hand quilt it too!

I used (almost)the last of my

Aurifil #28 wool thread to quilt

the centres of the sandy coloured squares!

And I am really glad I did!

Running bugs on Scrappy Sandwiches!

I love it!

Quilt details:
Scrappy Sandwiches (tutorial here) 56" x 70"
Backed with "Glimma" in Mineral Dust
Pieced, machine and hand quilted in Aurifil thead
Bound with Saffron Craig "Running Bugs"

Liberty Love!

I finished this cushion cover recently...

I need to buy a bigger insert

made from my meagre stash of Liberty fabrics!

Most of this was purchased at a New Year sale from

Kim @ L'uccello.

Happily my stash is about to increase....

10 fat quarters of luscious Liberty!

thanks to this amazing giveaway!

Have you heard of Massdrop?

No?

I hadn't either until I read all about it on

Sarah's blog

where I won the Liberty!

"Massdrop helps people buy together as a group

to get awesome prices for the things they want."

And who doesn't want more Aurifil

at the cheapest price?

I know I do-

I certainly NEED more thread!

Where I live, Aurifil costs anywhere

between $16.25Aus and $17.50Aus

for a 1300 metre reel!

I've snagged a six pack for $45.99!

Even adding very reasonably priced postage

makes this a great deal!

(I've just read that the postage is free if you are in the US!)

There's still time to grab some!

(This is purely independent blogpost,

not sponsored by anyone)

I'm now planning what I will make with all my

pretty Liberty!

Hurry Mr. Postman, hurry!

Happy sewing!

Welcome May!

I will admit straight off-

I was stumped on a theme

for May!

(In my best teacher's voice....

"Must do better!")

So I've gone all 'arty-farty' on you!

Imagine these are modern paintings...

at an Art Show!

Why don't we see stray threads until now!

Miro, Klee, Matisse?

I chose the binding because it reminds me

 of paint splashes,

and the backing is appropriate, don't you think?

Here is the Autumn group together....

and all six in the series so far!

I seem to have forgotten the quilting along the bottom section too!

Really must do better!

Happy sewing!
