Separated at Birth...

The first month of our "Friendship X and + Swap

Lolly Quiltz

comes to an end with the reveal of.....

these!

Carla has such a fabulous fabric stash....

aren't they pretty?

It is such fun making 'twins'.....

and sending four of them off

to meet their American cousins!

Now it's time to make November's twins...

And my turn to pick colours from our palette!

I declare 'brown, aqua and orange

this month's colours!

Here are some fabrics I have chosen so far!

Welcome to Sandra and Heidi

who are playing along now too!

Happy sewing!

A Sneak Peek...

of our "+ and x Friendship blocks"!

Carla and I are so excited by these blocks

that we could not wait until the end of the month

to share what we have made.....

And here are the first set of 'twins'!

Ain't they pretty?

My set of four are winging their way to Carla

as we speak...

And here are my four,

waiting patiently to be joined by Carla's!

It's not too late to join in the fun!

Do you have a friend who you would like

to swap blocks with?

(or maybe we can do some 'match making' here?)

Lolly Quiltz

You probably don't need to make eight a month...

Maybe six blocks over ten months?

We have set up a Flickr group here

if you want to share your 'twins' with us....

Or on Instagram with the tag #friendship+andxswap

We will also share our October twins together

again at the end of the month!

Happy sewing!

4th Quarter F-A-L

Everyone has said it....

"How can it be October?",

and time for the 4th quarter of the Finish-A-Long!

she can quilt

I finished three out of three for the 3rd quarter,

so I am going all-out and putting four finishes

 on my F-A-L list!

1. My "Rocky Mountain Puzzle" Bee Quilt...

Ooops- this is upside down!
needs batting bought and quilting etc,
and a new name.

2. I have worked on this one off-and-on this year....

I'm not sure I love it but someone will...

I have enough batting for it,

(it's only about 50" X 60")

so I just need backing....

and quilting, of course!

3. My City Sampler is still in pieces....

but progress is being made!

Besides I need this one for a Christmas gift!

4. Finally, a friend has asked me to make her

a Market Bag...

in pink and red!

Thanks Leanne for being our cheerleader

in the F-A-L this year!

It has been very motivating!

Happy sewing!

Friendship Swap

Carla, a dear 'virtual' friend and I are having a block swap!

We're calling it the

"Friendship + and x Swap"!

I am sorry, I cannot remember whose quilt this is-
But it sure is beautiful!

And we thought you might like to join in......

Here's how it might work:

1. Pick a friend to swap with: An invisible one (a blogging friend that you have never met in real life) even!

2. Pick a palette for your blocks,

(We used Design Seed to find ours,
Isn't this pretty?)

Or decide to just go scrappy.

3. Check out Amy Badskirt's tutorial on how to make the block.

4. Add the Friendship x and + button to your blog sidebar
(see that pretty new button on the right there?)

5. Decide how many total blocks you want for your quilts. Carla and I are going with 64 blocks and will be divide them out for 8 months, making 8 each month.

6. Every month you will make a set of blocks for yourself and an identical set for your swap partner. She will do the same for you. In our case, I will make 4 different  x and + blocks and an identical set of 4 to mail to Carla. With the 4 she sends me that month, I will have 8 blocks for that month.

7. Blog about your blocks on the last Friday of each month, as Carla and I will be doing. Also, feel free to use Instagram with the hashtag #friendshipxplusswap to show off your blocks and colour palette.

Here are some fabrics I've come up with that might

"make the cut" for Month 1:

We hope you decide to join us on our

 Friendship Swap!

In the meantime, go over and say hello

to Carla for me!

Happy days!

WIPs Wednesday....

Before I went on my little break

I finished piecing my

Rocky Mountain Puzzles blocks....

And have decided to use a vintage sheet for backing.

It's a little more pink in real life.
I just need to get some batting organised.....

I couldn't resist making another pin cushion,

from the "Patchwork Please" book!

I added some stitching and

a little yo-yo in the centre...

And while I was playing, I decided to make

the Market Bag....

Both these were going to put put aside for

Christmas gifts.....

Can you tell I love this bag?

I even remembered to put one of my

labels on the inside!

Aren't these lady bugs cute!
The lining is from Terry's Fabrics!

(They kindly sent me a sample or two!)

I'm not sure I can give this away!

I have another project lined up too....

But that can wait for another day!

What WIPs do you have 'on the go'?

Happy sewing!
