A February Finish!

I am pleased to say I have finally finished

 "Almost A Rainbow"!

Finally, because I started hand sewing this in

January 2012....

Oh, look- I have forgotten a round of stitching on the blue spots!

My plan was to make one block a month

and have it done in a year....

but, of course, I got side tracked!

and it took far longer to piece together!

This is not a large quilt (42" X 48"), but does have

about 900 pieces in it!

I have kept the quilting to a minimum for fear of

messing it up completely.....

with a little Perle thrown in for good measure!

I love the backing and the matching green binding!

I had hoped to get some better outside photos but the

weather was far too windy-

I'll get some at the beach this weekend!

Linking up for a February finish to...

A Lovely Year of Finishes!

Happy days!

A Peek at my Week......

An amazing, surprise gift arrived from my blogging

friend, Di!

She is a talented and generous lady, that one!

Thank you Di- I love it all!

I've done a little sewing....

hoping for a reveal this week!

A healthy breakfast at the Fair Foodstore....

the boiled eggs are served in the cardboard carton.

How cute!

Mr PnP and I went two concerts this week.

Norah Jones at the Plenary in Melbourne...

passing the barque "Polly Woodside" on the way.

And Glenn Fry, a member of the Eagles....

(Not sure how this shows up...I might need to delete

it?)

What did you get up to this week?

WIPS Wednesday

It has been four weeks since my last WIPS post, and

three since my return to work....

so its time to report in!

1. "Almost A Rainbow" is now a flimsy!

Yippee!

I am aiming to get this quilted at the weekend.

2. "Ginger Kisses" - 8 'eyes' appliqued, 8 more to go!

I am excited about getting this one together!

3. Helen's bag- sorry, no further progress photos,

but I am pleased to say she is going 'great guns' on

the hand quilting!

4. A little stitching of Dancer and Prancer-

my Christmas embroideries....

with the next set ready to go!

NO PROGRESS-

"Museum Medallion"
"Feathers" quilt- still thinking....
"Radioactive" quilt
Knitting of sweater or socks

NEW- the first of two or three bibs....

Back into the rhythm...

The school term is over two weeks old,

and Summer holidays a dim, distant memory....

even though the temperatures say otherwise!

On a
couple of afternoons a week,

I get to spend an hour

or two at the machine...

making bee blocks

for Cindy...

or putting together a dress for my sister.....

This is an excellent pattern - easy to follow, well

constructed and an accurate fit!

It's the third time I have made it, so it must be good!

Evenings after dinner are spent

EPP, appliqueing or hand piecing!

These are the pieces ready for the next round of

"Museum Medallion".

There is alway plenty to do!

Happy sewing!

Gifted.....

I received some lovely birthday presents,

but the nicest handmade one gifted to me was.....

this beautiful table runner!

It was made by my very dear, and very gifted friend

We are linking up today so please go over, say hello

and hear more about it!

I'm going to let my photos speak for themselves...

It IS straight- just my bad photography!

Linen, wool felt, tiny French knots and hand stitching!

I am very privileged to own such an exquisite piece of

fabric art, made by a very talented lady!

Thank you Mary - I will treasure it always!

Celebrating a birthday....

Is far better than the alternative,

whatever the number!

So with another behind me, I thought I'd share my

birthday dinner...

my birthday flowers...

and one of my birthday gifts...

The cutest little sewing machine...

from my 28 year old son!

(Guess I did something right, bringing up my boys!)

I have also given you a sneak peek of THE most

beautiful runner I received!

But it deserves a post all of its own!

Happy days!

Needing Motivation...

There are a number of wonderful places in blogland

that inspire and motivate!

I wasn't organised enough to join in the

FAL over at Leanne's...

There is also "A Lovely Year of Finishes"...

which I am joining for February, at least!

I am aiming to have my "Almost A Rainbow'

complete-

pieced and quilted!

I am gradually working through each row....

adding the large Kaffe Fassett triangles!

The 850+ pieces will soon become one!

I even have fabric which may become the backing...

Now, do I need to buy batting?

Happy sewing!

My first finish for 2013!

Trip Trap is finished.....

And I actually like it again!

I enjoyed making some of the blocks, picking pretty

colour combinations and favourite fabrics.

But I also found the piecing quite tedious.

I think I like to be challenged more.

I hope I don't offend anyone!

But you know what they say, "It takes all types!"

I do love that every piece of this quilt, from the fabric,

to the batting, backing and binding...

came from my stash!

And that's got to be a good thing!

I'm now on the look out for someone who loves it!

Happy days,

Fabric Love!

I was lucky enough to win a Fabricworm gift voucher

during the Sew Seasonal Blog Hop....

And with international postage going up,  I didn't

want to waste it (ALL on postage)!

So this landed in my mail box this week....

Hot Chocolate by Jacqueline Savage McFee

Isn't it pretty?

I'm loving pink and brown together at the moment!

The touches of orange and lime are perfect!

As if that wasn't enough....

look what else arrived....

a special gift from a very special friend....

30 (count them...30) 10" squares of the new DS

One beautiful square for every year I have been

alive  quilting!

It was as if all my Christmases had come at once,

or it was my 25th 21st birthday, or something!

These photos just don't do it justice!

Thank you Mary, you are an angel!

Happy days!
