Trip Trap is finished.....
And I actually like it again!
I enjoyed making some of the blocks, picking pretty
colour combinations and favourite fabrics.
But I also found the piecing quite tedious.
I think I like to be challenged more.
I hope I don't offend anyone!
But you know what they say, "It takes all types!"
I do love that every piece of this quilt, from the fabric,
to the batting, backing and binding...
came from my stash!
And that's got to be a good thing!
I'm now on the look out for someone who loves it!
Happy days,
SUZ
seeing lots of these quilts come together........
ReplyDeleteLooks great Suz - I love how it has a light and shade effect depending on the tones used in each block. I know what you mean about the piecing though. I don't mind repetitive simple piecing actually, I find it quite relaxing, but the seam ripping part killed it for me. I'm sure you'll be able to find it a loving home no worries.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. I'm now glad I didn't jump on the bandwagon. They are all lovely quilts but I don't like repetitive tasks. I'm sure you will find someone who loves it and will be very happy with it.
ReplyDeletehaha I have escaped the trip trap. though I have come close on occasions. All that lining up of rows eek!!
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely though!!
Wow!! That's just beautiful! Great, great job.
ReplyDeleteI do love your quilt, I am slowly working on one that I am really enjoying seeing it come together. I think I do need to challenge myself more though! It is good practice for matching seams!
ReplyDeleteI've got a big box of one-inch pieces, so one of these days I may go there too.
ReplyDeleteGreat stash buster! Its a lovely quilt :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, Suz! And it's completely ok to say you weren't challenged enough by it. I'd be surprised if anyone was offended by that.
ReplyDeleteFor me, it wasn't challenging, either, but I didn't mind that. I think it's broad appeal to the masses is related to the speed and ease with which it can be put together even though it looks like it would've taken more time. I may have saved myself from the repetitiveness by chain-piecing the whole thing so I feel more like I did each step "once". But I enjoyed it as a project I didn't have to think too much about.
May you get more out your next project! :-)
great quilt the black really sparkles!
ReplyDeletewonderful pieced back.
It's is scraptastic
It looks wonderful Susan! I can certainly understand tiring of the repetition. But it is definitely a bright, fun quilt! Congrats on the finish!
ReplyDeleteWell...it certainly is beautiful!!!! I'm working on one now in red and white...I'm a long way from done!!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely and I love how each one looks so different. Congratulations on the finish!
ReplyDeleteLeanne's right - they all look so different and yours is really pretty! I don't think you'll have any problem in finding someone who loves it - I do!
ReplyDeleteLol! It looks fabulous Suz!! ... A great 'easy' quilt that looks like it took a lot longer than it did!! They all look so different and unique, but totally fantastic - must make one of these at some stage :) ... I'm sure it will be super easy finding a home for this one - well, maybe not, what with the number of people potentially vy-ing for it to be in their home, lol! Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous finish Susan! I feel a bit the same way about my Brrr! quilt - I like it again!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWoohoo to a great finish! Looks fab.
ReplyDeleteI think sometimes you just need to do some easy piecing and look what you created, a gorgeous finish.
ReplyDeleteThe backing is so perfect...even better from your stash. Great finish!
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful - I will have to make one of these sometime too!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, and it was just the right level of monotony to break me into new year xxx
ReplyDeleteWell done!! And all from your stash? Now that's impressive!! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteIt does look good. And even if it wasn't exciting to make, it's always good to try something.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. Sometimes easy is good for a fast finish ; )
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Love it's scrappy goodness! I love it.... ;)
ReplyDeleteQuilts like this are so fun to cuddle and study all of the fabrics. I remember doing that with my grandmother's quilts when I was a child and home sick in bed. I agree about the repetitiveness being a bit boring at times, but wondering how each block will look is a sort of like eating potato chips...you can't stop with one! Great quilt, Suz...love the binding you chose!
ReplyDeleteJust delightful!
ReplyDeleteWooHoo It looks fabulous!! How funny, I enjoyed the repetitiveness when I made mine! It was great to just hear the sewing machine hum and not have to think too much!! That being said there have been other times I've not liked repetitiveness so I know where you're coming from.
ReplyDeleteTedious or not, it's a beautiful finish. Of course, now that I decided not to make a Scrappy Trip Around the World, and everyone is getting theirs done, I think I need to make one. Duh. I can be so out of it sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you made one of these because yours is beautiful. I haven't made one yet but I think I will. They all have such a different look!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Congrats on your finish :-)
