Besides making clothes
I've been renewing my love for watercolour!
But I do have a quilt to share today.
I used one of my trusty Aurifil threads in a pretty
lemon colour.
I love the backing, a length I bought last year from an
Instagram destash.
It's an Art Gallery Fabric by Bari J called "Wild Bloom"
I could easily have this side showing!
I persuaded the quilt-holding husband to accompany
me to the Carisbrook Jail.....
for some photos of "Carisbrook Cabin".
It is bound in a black and white check- bold but I
think it reflects the squares of the log cabin.
The batting was the last of a roll I bought at Spotlight
in 2021 for $60.
square left!
That's economical, don't you think?
The jail is a pretty grim place without the rainbow
colours of a quilt to brighten it up!

Beautiful quilt, pretty backing and what an amazing photo shoot!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour log cabin quilt is so pretty, so bright and vivid! Great quilt for the first quilt of the year, happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteYour pear is just perfect! Wow!!! And this quilt is just amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love how you take your quilts walkabout for photographs. I'm too lazy to do that with mine. My best efforts would be the swing outside my sewing studio or perhaps a rocking chair on the porch.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours - love the pink and orange together. Great photo's displaying your quilt - nice day out for you both :)
ReplyDeleteWOW! Love it and the absolutely gorgeous hero shots at the gaol. Well done & water colour painting too? Clever clogs. Thanks for sharing, take care & hugs.
ReplyDeleteHello Suz,
ReplyDeleteplaces like this are perfect to show the prettyness of a quilt! Thankx for the pictures.
The pair looks great.
I also do/did watercolours. May be I need to start this again.
Thank you for reminding.
Hugs from Germany, Doris :o)
I think your quilt is fantastic, everything about it! Also, very impressed with the watercolour painting. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is beautiful and looks so striking in the photoshoot. Loving your artwork too!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is gorgeous! Love the bright colors you used, and I bet the lemon-yellow thread looks great on it. You picked a good place to take pictures. Indeed, that jail looks like a terrible place to stay - a good reason to be good! Did you do that pear watercolor? My goodness but it's fabulous! Terribly impressive. I remember doing watercolor in high school art class, and being very unsuccessful. I like to dabble and mess and make it just right, which doesn't suit watercolor one bit! It's great knowing you're involved in a variety of creative efforts. Keep having fun with them. And I hope you find another good deal on batting!
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt!
ReplyDeleteI've abandoned my sewing machine while I'm working fulltime this term.
I'm looking forward to getting back to it.
That is a lovely finish. What a great quilt and you did find an interesting location for your photo shoot.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are enjoying your time with your water colours!
Retirement is wonderful.
Your watercolour pear is fantastic. Gorgeous quilt and that backing fabric is fantastic. You are a woman of many talents.
ReplyDeleteDoes your husband whinge about his sore shoulders if he even looks at a quilt and thinks he may need to hold it? Maybe it's just mine.... LOL
Of course you do watercolors! I have always appreciated your skills in colors, as shown in all your quilts. And now Carisbrook Cabin is a riot of wonderful color! I love the binding (of course) and I think the setting for the photographs was inspired. I look forward to learning more about your new community as you photo more quilts in the wild. Congratulations on a wonderful finish!
ReplyDeleteI just love your Carisbrook Cabin! It says: "Just jump right in (don't overthink it)! Try a scrappy log cabin! Be Happy!" Thank you!
