I purchased the "Dogs in Sweaters" pattern from
Facebook Marketplace a little while ago.....
I had fabric set aside so decided to get going on one
block!
The poor pup doesn't have his bottom constructed
properly here...
And he looks far more distinguished with his spectacles.
I've begun quilting it, to make it into a cushion...
and I am loving how it looks!
This photo (above) better shows the blue of the linen
background.
When I purchased the pattern, along with a couple of
Elizabeth Hartman patterns,
the lady kindly gave me two 'half' size blocks she had
no use for!
I'm in awe of her piecing skills...
These blocks are only 9" by 6", with some teeny tiny
piecing there!
I made my own drawstrings from some leftover binding
strips.
Happy sewing!

Adorable.
ReplyDeleteMy first reaction was "adorable" and then I had to laugh because that's exactly what the first comment said. They really are adorable.
ReplyDeleteAw! So cute.
ReplyDeleteI have always considered myself to be a "cat person", but you dog block is absolutely adorable. The drawstring bags for the small blocks was a great idea & they turned out to be the cutest bags ever. After seeing your projects I may just have to start making my own pup quilt - spectical & all.
ReplyDeleteThese really are adorable. I especially like the spectacled pup. Making them into drawstring bags is very effective. So will you be able to offer these for sale at the market you're attending? Or have you decided to keep one or two for yourself? And what, exactly, does one use a drawstring bag for? I've never had one, so I don't know.
ReplyDeleteI just love these. The doxies are as cute as the bags.
ReplyDeleteI made a queen-sized quilt from this pattern for my son - with the middle puppy being a portrait of our little wire-haired dachshund, Scout.
ReplyDeleteIt's a finicky pattern, isn't it? But very rewarding.
These would make such great gifts! Even with that small, small piecing. Love them!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a delightful design. I think your cushion is coming up really well. That dog really has character.
ReplyDeleteAnd how lovely to receive the smaller blocks, too. I see what you mean about the tiny piecing.
Your idea to turn them into bags has worked really well. Lovely idea.
Hope you are still dry!
