Two weeks...

is a long time between posts!

For no particular reason, I have not been very

productive in the sewing department this year.

But I'm still here, doing what I can when I can!

I enjoyed some mindless piecing, making these

'quilt-as-you-go' panels,

turning them into zippy pouches.

They are now waiting for some worthy recipients.

I have owned four "Merrily" panels for a long time,

and recently came across a free pattern online that I

thought I could use with them.

And I'm thrilled with how it turned out!

It is now 37" square.

I really wish I had more of that gorgeous red and

green 'stars' fabric.

I think it would be awesome as a large 74" bed quilt,

using the other three panels!

If you'd like to make your own, the pattern is on the

Art Gallery Fabric website here

Its name is "Snuggle"- pretty perfect, hey?

  3. That deer is fantastic! Seeing your QAYG panels makes me realize I should consider smaller projects more often. I tend to think only of quits when planning what to do with my fabrics. Your pouches are great.

  8. Always a vote for the big quilt option! Can you use similar but different fabrics... maybe alternating the green and red placements?

  9. Your patch-y pieces are really cute, especially the zipper pouches. Love those! Please don't belittle yourself for not feeling productive! Even this post is an example... you push yourself to make something and then you don't have a recipient(s) for it. I do the same thing too often and have decided to simply stop forcing. No one's making me DO anything; just me. So, I'm allowing (making) myself pull back this year. Heaven knows I don't NEED another quilt!

  10. Gorgeous little zipper pouches. They are looking lovely. A great result from what you call mindless sewing!!
Lovely result with the panel, too. The fabrics are lovely. No chance of hunting up that special green fabric? Or could you make the other blocks with variations of those fabrics?

  11. Sometimes we sew and sometimes we don't. Love the panels for the zipper pouches, I have another name for mindless piecing, I call it my meditation piecing as I find it is quite calming sewing like that.

  14. You are smart to make up pouches ahead of time, for gifts, etc., and yours are really cute, I must say. Love the Gingiber quilt blocks. I was able to find some to finish up mine on ETSY, but no where else. I think there probably will be some in an upcoming line of hers that may match "backwards," if luck holds. They all look great!
