An Even Dozen!

I've finished my 12th quilt for 2019!

I started quilting with a diagonal straightline....

forming a grid, which you can see a little of in the

photos.

The further I went, the surer I became that I was

going to run out of thread!

So then I only sewed part of the way across and

turned back in the other direction to form a triangle (?)

It was only when I was taking these photos that I

noticed how the quilting matched the backing!

(see last photo)

I really like the simplicity of this quilt!

It will go in the gift cupboard until I find a

'special' recipient!

It seems my quilts fall into three categories:

1. Must keeps
2. 'Special' giveaways to special people
3. 'Just because' giveaways!

Do you categorise your quilts that way too?

  1. Well done. I love your choice of colours. Sometimes I make for a special gift, some I keep then giveaway, others wait for giving when I need something quickly and some are just for me to use.
Have a good weekend, despite that as I write this, it is chucking it down & blowing a hooley. Take care.

  2. Anothr lovely quilt Susan!! 12 quilts finished in 2019 already? Wow! I categorise my quilts in keepers (all those with lots of appliqué or very special fabrics) and charity quilts, which are often specially made for that purpose, so they leave the house when they are finished. I have some quilts in between the two categories which I can’t say goodbye to for some reason....

  3. Good Morning Suz!

  4. What a lovely quilt and your quilting is very nice. I also keep quilts to give to a special person. Sometimes I need to wait several years but I'm always glad I did. Happy Stitching!

  6. Love the cross hatching and the modified cross hatch. I wish I had enough quilts completed to have a giveaway stash. I have been keeping more of my completeds since I gave away so many over the past few years. Right now my ratio seems to be, I keep one, I give one away.

  7. I'm happy for you to be making so many quilts in 2019. It gives you a real sense of purpose and accomplishment, doesn't it? This one is a real beauty, and will be a great gift for that "someday" baby. Love the backing fabric too, and that you quilted it yourself. You're a real pro at quiltmaking.

  8. The simplicity is lovely and the color scheme makes me think of pixelated flowers.

  13. I am a selfish quilter who makes just about everything because I love it so its mine. Something's I can then rationalise as a gift... other things I have to separate as a gift from the beginning. Consequently... I don't give a lot away. But also... I don't finish all that many either 😉

  14. This quilt is beautiful, and I love all the different places you photographed it, especially the image in front of the stained glass window. Bravo to you for another finish--that's a lot for a year where you have been as busy as you are! Congratulations!

  15. I really am attracted to that pattern. Sometimes I sketch blocks that I am attracted to and when I have need to make a quilt for someone, go to my sketchbook to see what is calling out. Most quilts I work on have a destination in mind. A few I make for myself, though I don't have that many beds to put them on ... and sometimes one of my kids sees what I am making and says "Oh, I want that one".
