I had a wonderful holiday...
Besides seeing some amazing natural sights,
thread and fabric displays popped up in a number of
unexpected places...
Firstly this exhibition in Waitangi-
beautiful cross stitching and even some patchwork blocks.
Then I spied this vintage quilt in an antique shop...
I thought it was a bargain at $30, but decided I have
enough projects of my own, let alone taking on someone
else's!
I had the pleasure of meeting a fellow quilter in a holiday
park in Napier...
and I'm guessing this was her quilt I saw on the line when
we left the next morning!
I also stumbled across a little quilt show by the
Taranaki Quilters...
I loved seeing the variety of quilts and talent of
these modern quilters!
There was this cool bike in the street in New
Plymouth!
And finally, I spied these quilts (on the left) in a window in
Hobbiton!
Stitching and threads are all around us,
you just have to keep a lookout!
I hope to be back with a small finish soon!
Happy days indeed!

Always interesting what else you manage to see on a holiday. Glad you had a good time in Godzone,
ReplyDeleteI feel really bad, I meant to get in touch when I read you were coming over but never did 😠I might even have passed you in person, I work at Waitangi on the same floor as the X-Marks exhibition! I'm glad though you enjoyed your trip around Aotearoa xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteMonika from Himmelgarten Quilts
Glad you had a good time, you have undoubtedly seen more NZ sights than I have. I was just going to say Monika worked at The Treaty grounds but see she beat me to it!
ReplyDeleteI sure enjoyed following your travel through NZ via Instagram! You saw such gorgeous places! Though, all of NZ is beautiful, so how could you NOT see gorgeousness? I'm glad you had a good time, and found ways to keep the quilt-y spirit alive as you went along. I have no doubt you're itching to sew and stitch again... a wonderful side-benefit to taking a break. Are you back to work this week? I hope you return to your activities, including school, feeling completely refreshed.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home. So good to see your trip turned out well and that you discovered stitching in all forms as you travelled. Do you have to head back to work right away?
ReplyDeleteWelcome Home!!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your quilting/sewing finds, and try to do the same "I Spy" when I go on holiday, too. You have fortitude to have passed up that quilt, but I totally understand how you could. I hope you are feeing refreshed and ready to tackle the world again.
Oh - too bad that there won't be any more of your awesome travel pics on Instagram... ;-) I enjoyed "traveling" with you and am sure you had a wonderful time. Welcome home!
ReplyDeleteYour landscape photos are spectacular and you found a wonderful collection of quilts. That looks like a great holiday :)
