Sometimes it's nice to sew something different...
So I had a break from my quilt making
Hand quilting |
in all it's forms, to do some garment sewing.
First up, a pair of PJ pants for Eli....
I then tackled this Summer dress I'd had cut out
previously...
from this New Look #6022 pattern
A great dress that came together really easily!
Finally a lined winter skirt from a very old
Simplicity pattern
Simplicity #5914 |
Yes, it needs hemming; the hardest job of all!
Before I start machine quilting one of the three
flimsies I have waiting,
I made this zipper pouch,
from a mini charm pack
following a tutorial, I found HERE.
It finished at about 11" by 4".
It's going in the gift cupboard in preparation for
Christmas.
Happy sewing!

Very productive break!
ReplyDeleteNice to have other projects to work on every now and then and love your simple dress. That bag looks cute and is it simple...?
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is nice to do something besides quilting. I love to make baby clothes. They don't use much fabric and are really quick to finish. All your items are looking great!
ReplyDeleteFun variety in these projects. They all look great!
ReplyDeleteGosh, but you are productive! I love reading your blog--all your projects have "your look" to them. Your Eli is getting to be such a charmer, and I'm sure he looks great in his fox pants. Fun dress and skirt--I have a few I need to try. I love that pouch--so cute! And a cool little "play" logo--is that the zipper pull?
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about needing a little diversion sewing. Eli's jammies are so cute, as is he! I know how fun and easy it is to sew jammies for boys - in my case, four at a time! Cute dress too! I like that pattern. I also covet that little pouch! I need to make one for our littlest grandson who is highly allergic to peanut products. Mom has to have an EPI pen at all times, and leave one with pre-school, so this might work as a case for all that stuff. Could you please tell me the finished dimensions of it so I can determine if it will hold the pen, and and extra sample pen? I LOVE the hand stitching you're doing on that quilt, by the way! Wow.
ReplyDeleteI have that dress pattern. I need to pull it out and make one. I’m currently away from my sewing machine as my MIL fell and broke her hip. Thanks for giving me the idea that the dress is doable.
ReplyDeleteHoping that your sewing endeavours fit better than mine did! Everything is looking great...sometimes it is good to have a break from the scheduled programming!
ReplyDeleteThat skirt pattern might be an oldie, but it looks like a goodie! Cute pyjama fabric too. I am glad you found time to have some fun and variety.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see a variety of projects on the go. We all need a break to do something different.
