Any progress...

is good progress!

I am slowly getting strength back into my hand,

Although it will be like this for another two weeks at least!

even if I only have two fingers and a thumb.

I've hand stitched, very slowly, two more

"Clambake" shapes....

managed some machine sewing of this Summer

blouse....

and I'm improvising Month #9 of Delilah....

appliqueing the circle rather than piecing it!

And if it all gets too much,

I have these to keep me busy!

Happy days!

  2. Little progress is better than nothing at all. Hang in there. I know it is frustrating, but you will be back soon.

  4. I'm glad to see your hand out of that last bandage, because I see it gives you more mobility. I, too, found machine sewing easier when I was convalescing as it helps you sew along. I'm glad to see you found a way to make it work for you.

I'm sending along best wishes for a good recovery, but I wish I could be there to make a meal or something, to help you along. Hugs to you, Susan!

  5. I'm glad your hand is mending. Injuries/surgeries can certainly make us appreciate a healthy body. So glad you can still create things. May the next two weeks go quickly!

  6. I just came to the realization with your injury and having only two fingers and a thumb on your working hand, you still sew way better than me anyway. Sad but true and also funny. Heal and feel well!

  8. I like the mixture of pieced and solid clams. I wish I had more time for reading but I don't think a messed up hand is the way to go. Keep up the healing.

  10. I'm sure this healing thing has become a long and tedious process. I am so sorry for you! But I do see that your hand/fingers are looking a little better. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to work around the limitations created by your non-operating fingers. Perhaps sewing machine use is a little easier than handwork though. Cute blouse! And isn't it nice to have something new to wear for summer? Hope your book-reading is proving enjoyable, albeit slow. Do continue to take it easy.

  15. Hello, Suz. I've happened onto your blog while doing some lunch-time surfing. I love the fabrics in the projects you've been working on in your past several posts. Your poor hand! I don't know what happened, but I can sure imagine how frustrating it would be to lose the use of my dominant hand for so long. I hope these two fingers heal quickly for you.
