Introducing "Amethyst"

I can't remember the last time I

finished a quilt so quickly!

I went for a basic stipple on the body of the quilt...

(I really need to get out of my comfort zone when it

comes to FMQ ing!)

and some straight lines for the borders.

I pieced and quilted it with my favourite Aurifil

thread...

 # 2600 - a lovely light silvery grey which seems to

go with everything!

How lovely that the gardens were planted to match

my quilt!

Here's hoping it is loved too....

Happy sewing!

  1. Lovely finish! Do you pin or spray baste? One day I will do some FMQ. When I use Aurifil thread for quilting, my go to is #2600, it seems to pick up the colors of the quilt.

  4. This is really pretty Susan - the stars just seem to twinkle. And the garden shots are stunning - very convenient that the colours are just the perfect match.

  7. Nothing wrong with a good stipple. I, too, have a couple of FMQ motifs that I stick with. Someday we'll expand our horizons. ☺

  10. So gorgeous! I, too, fall back on stipple when I'm quilting, but have compiled a "folder" of other stitches on my IG account that I scroll through when I'm at a loss for what to do. Last night I switched over to "flames" on the border of another mini. I really need a chart to put by my machine, I guess, to help me to remember other stitches I'm comfortable with. But really, you can't go wrong with a good stipplling stitch!
