I am proud and happy to share my latest finish
with you!
Formerly known as "Modern Amish",
its new name came to me as I was sewing on the
binding.
As each quilt is unique, so should be its name!
Why "Rainbow Connection" you ask?
Hopefully the rainbow part is obvious!
The 'connection' part relates to the fact
that this is a bee quilt,
with all but the centre and one block made by my
MCM Bee mates in 2014.
These blocks connect us in a very special way!
Siggy blocks included in the backing |
So thank you ladies for your stars!
Especially Rene who kindly made me a second one
when her envelope arrived empty!
And Mary who made two because she didn't think
her first one was 'good enough'!
I thoroughly enjoyed hand quilting it too!
Each block is so unique and reminiscent of its maker.
It is bound with a scrappy, spotty binding
a happy contrast to the mainly solids and black!
Happy days!
SUZ

ReplyDeleteRainbow Connection is a stunning quilt Susan. A fantastic finish.
ReplyDeleteI so love this quilt! The colors are amazing and that black really makes them pop out and sing. Fun to see our signature blocks on the back (and thank you again for waiting for mine). I agree--the new name is perfect!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt! The binding is absolutely perfect.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I ave a piece of fabric in my whole stash that is black.......or even has black on it.......but your quilt looks great...the blocks pop out bursts of colour........
ReplyDeleteSuch a stunning quilt - the solid blocks look amazing with the black background!
ReplyDeleteWhat a thing of beauty! It's so striking, Susan. Looks like all the blocks were planned to go together, when we well-know they weren't. And how impressive that you took the time to hand quilt. I admire you for doing that. So how big did this end up?
ReplyDeleteWow! It's gorgeous and vibrant. Love those rainbow colours paired with the dark background as it lets those blocks shine, without competing with one another. Congrats to you and your bee mates for this lovely finish!
ReplyDeleteSuch a bright and cheery quilt from a bright and cheery group. I like the print you chose for the back too - I remember that was not an easy decision. This includes some absolutely stunning blocks.
ReplyDeleteRene's blocks escaped the envelope containment lines? Oh dear.
Nothing about Kermit's song 'The Rainbow Connection'? I used to hear that every morning on the school bus when I was in primary school.
Wonderful! Vibrant! Vivid! That is a great quilt!
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning. What a talented group of friends and a great treasure to have.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely beautiful! I could just stare at those blocks all day. What a treasure and a great effort by everyone involved. Bravo!

ReplyDeleteHow beautiful. I just love the black background - this should definitely start a new trend! Away with the low volume, and bring in the black!
ReplyDeleteVery nice to see this again. You hand quilted!! Good for you. It was a pleasure to make a block for your quilt ; )
ReplyDeleteIt's fantastic! I like the bold colours and the variety of blocks works so beautifully. The scrappy binding is perfect and special quilts like this deserve to be hand quilted :)
